THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Featurette Shows How The Volume Was Used To Create Valhalla For Post-Credits Scene

Ahead of Thor: Love and Thunder's release on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD, a new featurette has been released showing how The Volume was used to create Valhalla and further exploring Jane Foster's MCU return.

Thor: Love and Thunder brought Natalie Portman's Jane Foster back to the MCU and transformed her into The Mighty Thor. While some fans have expressed disappointment over the character's entire arc playing out over the course of a movie that wasn't even 2 hours long, the hero's journey still had a satisfying enough beginning, middle, and end.

In fact, The Mighty Thor seems to be the one thing fans unanimously loved about the Thor: Ragnarok sequel, and the way her story ended at least left the door open to a return down the line.

After dying in battle against Gorr the God Butcher, a post-credits scene later saw Jane welcomed into Valhalla. Comic book fans will know she's eventually resurrected as a Valkyrie, and assuming Portman is up for more, we'll surely see her heading into battle at least one more time down the line.

In a newly released featurette, we get an in-depth look at Jane's MCU return and find out that those Valhalla scenes were brought to life with The Volume. It's incredible to see how that technology created the environments around Thor: Love and Thunder's cast and you can check out our interview with the movie's VFX Supervisor by clicking here.

"It’s been really exciting to come back with a completely different lens on the same world," Portman says. "It went this unexpected direction and it was absolutely incredible."

"Despite having been in lots of action movies, I’ve never really done any fight training or anything. It was really fun to get to train for the first time in my life to be strong, you know?" she adds. "Usually, as women, we’re training to get as small as possible. So it’s exciting to actually be working towards being bigger."

Use the volume for all your stupid cgi filled antics, maybe use actual exteriors, and cut the cringe. Problem solved.

@bobevanz - This movie had some awful cgi, but at no point did I think to myself "this was definitely filmed in the Volume.

Wish I could say the same for The Batman...

Yes, use this groundbreaking technology in a movie made by a man with the mind of a 7 year old who will just make fun about how said effects actually look.

The Volume is an incredible, game changing technology. Filmmakers just are still scratching the surface with its potential and mastering the best way to use it while also blending in practical art pieces within it.

I wonder if we will see Jane become a Valkyrie and appear in either the Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars leading all of Valkyrie's fallen sisters into battle to help Earth.
