Thor: Love and Thunder looks set to be a wild ride for fans of the MCU, and while we know filmmaker Taika Waititi will continue to subvert expectations, it appears he had to reign himself in a little.

Christian Bale has already talked about a scrapped sequence with Gorr the God Butcher dancing to Kate Bush, and Chris Hemsworth has now revealed a cut scene with Thor rocking out to ABBA. Asked in the video below about the "dancing aspect" of his career, the actor reflected on this big moment for the God of Thunder that ended up on the cutting room floor.

"There was [a Thor dance scene] to an ABBA song, but it didn’t make the movie for a few reasons," Hemsworth confirmed. "It's a full dance scene. It's a full dance-off shooting lightning out his fingertips and so on."

It's unclear whether this was actually shot, but if so, we hope to see it among the deleted scenes.

There are some fans who will be horrified by the prospect of Thor busting some moves to "Dancing Queen," but a scene like this would fit the tone of Thor: Love and Thunder based on what we've seen so far. The hero has become more comedic in nature, and you only need to look at Thor: Ragnarok's critical and commercial performance for proof that it's working.

Check out the full interview with Hemsworth below:

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

This one might have a chance at a billion.

I know quite a few people that didn't like Dr strange 2 and that basically made a billion, this looks like more of a GA pleaser.

"The hero has become more comedic in nature..." -Josh

"Comedic"??? Dancing to ABBA and making gooey-eyes to Star-Lord is just buffoonery. The Thor character can still be allowed some measure of dignity while being humorous but, Waititi has made him a goofball. 🤪

(I can't argue against the financial success of turning Thor into a goofball. I'm arguing the creative/artistic decisions to do so.) 🤔

I'd have to see the context of the scene to see if I would have liked it or not, but seeing as I absolutely loathed the dance-off scene at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, I seriously doubt it.

Sung to the tune of "Dancing Queen", but I skipped most of the song, and my notes are in parenthesis:

(Thor),

You're a teaser, you turn 'em on (by showing your butt)
Leave 'em burning and then you're gone (they even fainted)

(skipped a few lyrics)

Yes you can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that dude
Watch that scene
You're the dancing king (or was a King, anyway)

If it happened when he was still with the Guardians at the beginning of the movie then it can make sense. But afterwards it would feel too, IDK, uncalled for. For not saying forced.
