Tickets for Thor: Love and Thunder are now on sale, and Marvel Studios is celebrating the occasion with a new TV spot for Taika Waititi's highly anticipated MCU return.

The filmmaker is clearly set to bring a lot of exciting new ideas to the table, something that's evident from a black and white battle between the God of Thunder and Gorr the God Butcher that, at one point, bursts into glorious neon. There are other fun snippets of new footage here, including some awesome shots of The Mighty Thor, Korg, and Valkyrie.

In related news, we've also learned that the Thor: Ragnarok sequel will be rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, language, some suggestive material, and partial nudity. We're betting that last part refers to Chris Hemsworth being stripped down by Russell Crowe's Zeus!

Check out this new Thor: Love and Thunder TV spot below:

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

I know who Gorr is, but if I didn't and saw there character for the first time in trailers or the film I wonder how a vagabond Sith made it into the MCU?

My first thought is "I get it, you don't hire Christian Bale just to make him unrecognizable."

Then I look at his entire filmography aside from Batman and American Psycho, where he basically looks vastly different in every role...

@UGLYsonic - That's how much range that guy has. His acting is on another level and his dedication to each role is documentary worthy. He is one of the best currently active actors of our time and we are lucky to have him be so open minded with the roles he selects. I don't think I have seen one bad Christian Bale film.

They say that about every MCU villain and they're all.. forgettable lmao.

@toylled - I do hate how they tend to kill off the villains. But it's actually pretty rare when a villain is forgettable.

Malekith is actually so forgettable he's memorable.

@toylled - Loki, Thanos, Killmonger, Vulture, Mysterio, Hella, Zemo, Agatha, Harrow, Xu Wenwu… Even Ultron was a good villain.

I think you are placing more value in the Disney+ stuff than is deserved - and it's a bit pathetic that at least two of the villains on your list are a product of Sony, not Disney (Vulture & Mysterio)

Gorr will be forgettable and after a few months people will have trouble differentiating him from Malekith and Hela because he brings nothing new to the table other than the visual black/white gimmick.

@Scarilian - Pathetic is you thinking Vulture and Mysterio are a product of Sony when it´s widely known that Marvel Studios has complete creative control on the MCU Spider-Man movies. So no, there're not a product of Sony. Morbius, Bloodshot and Venom are a product of Sony. Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home are a product of Marvel Studios distributed by Sony.

"Gorr will be forgettable and after a few months people will have trouble differentiating him from Malekith and Hela because he brings nothing new to the table other than the visual black/white gimmick."
Had no idea you already saw Love and Thunder. But still

I do wonder if Gorr completely changes the tone of the film in each appearance. Where as he sucks the "joy" out of the scenes but in a narrative way. Where we see Thor all jolly and having a great time and here comes Gorr changing the entire tone and scope of a scene because of how serious and diabolical he is. Sort of how Green Goblin did it in No Way Home. We were having fun as an audience and when Goblin turned up it was gloomy and brutal.

@SonOfAGif - its quite possible Thor is being presented as jolly as a far higher percentage of the trailer runtime than a % of the movie runtime. i don't expect it to be a laughfest but instead have jokes here and there and not so much that it ruins the overall tone of the film. Ragnarok had a few jokes but overall wasn't 'comedic' in tone.

@JonC -
"Ragnarok had a few jokes but overall wasn't 'comedic' in tone."

Ragnarok was incapable of tone balancing and Infinity War had to carry the weight of that films incompetence, and we've seen the same in released clips for this movie:

- Thor calling to Mjolnir like a dog while his people are dying around him while cheesy music plays
- Thor goofing around with Jane and just standing looking at her while his people and home are being slaughtered around him

In one of the trailers he is rallying his people to fight against the oncoming threat and we know for a fact that none of them are going to join him because it's only Thor, Jane, Valykrie and Korg (Other than potentially Sif)

What other gods are we gonna get? Bast, we get Zeus, but who else?
We see in the trailer saying he’s putting a team together to fight Gorr, who’s he telling it to or who is he recruiting ?
Egyptian gods? Mayan or Aztec? Who cb green gods?

The trailer gave me big "Revengers" vibes from Ragnarok with Thor saying he is gathering the strongest team ever. IMO it sounds close to recycling.

I am mostly interested in Jane and Gorr.

@NinnesMBC -
Yeah, recycling is a good word for it. Hela was after all supposed to be Gorr at one stage, even taking all his powers.
