Chris Hemsworth Wants THOR To Join GUARDIANS And Jessica Chastain To Join RAGNAROK

While continuing to tease a "new and unexpected" direction for his third solo outing as the God of Thunder, the star of Thor: Ragnarok expresses desires to see his Asgardian join another Marvel franchise but also have one of his The Huntsman co-stars join his franchise

Before Cate Blanchett had entered final negotiations to join the Thor: Ragnarok cast, leading man Chris Hemsworth was asked which of his The Huntsman co-stars –  Emily Blunt,  Charlize Theron, and Jessica Chastain –  would he like to see tackle a villainess role in the 2017 Marvel threequel. Also, before echoing producer Kevin Feige’s recent comments about taking the franchise in a new direction, the Aussie actor admitted he wants his God of Thunder to join a new superhero team.

“I'd love him to hang out with the Guardians crew,” said Hemsworth when MTV News asked which other Marvel franchise he would like Thor to appear in. “I love that film and there's a great amount of fun to be had.” This response was not at all surprising given Hemsworth previously expressed a desire for his own franchise to be more like Guardians of the Galaxy tonally.
Meanwhile, Cinema Blend had pressed the actor to reveal who he thinks would make the best Thor: Ragnarok villain out of his beautiful co-stars from The Huntsman. “They all have potential to scare the hell out of me, any of those women,” he began. “I felt like the little brother, getting bossed around by these three women in the best way. Oh God, don’t make me pick one... maybe Jessica, but that’s only because [Emily and Charlize] are already villains in our film.” Fair enough! Chastain seems ideal considering she’d love to play Carol Danvers… if the Captain Marvel movie wasn’t many years away. Plus, there’s reportedly another “badass” female character to be cast opposite Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok, so maybe Hemsworth’s fan-cast could come to fruition.

Finally, during a separate interview with the Toronto Sun, Chris Hemsworth had explained that he wants to keep his Asgardian Avenger interesting and he teased the big plans Marvel Studios have. “The danger is when you have a long line of films — as with Thor — you do think you have all the answers and, if you think you know how to do it, you sort of sleepwalk through it,” he said. “That would become sort of boring. So you’ve got to keep looking at different ways to advance it and do things that are unexpected, and keep looking deeper within the story.” Though he hadn’t received the script during this interview earlier this month, Hemsworth knows what’s in store. “There certainly has been a huge discussion and there is definitely a goal to do something unexpected in the third one and really mix it up,” he said. “Everyone seems to be on the same page! There is so much exposure on that character and you just don’t want him to be predictable ... but I think we want to get back to more of a sense of adventure and fun in the third Thor.”

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with Taika Waititi set to direct, and the movie scheduled to release in theaters on November 3, 2017.

Thor in GOTG would bring that whole franchise down.
Who's gonna give up screen time so box office poison Chris Hemsworth can stand around and make perplexed faces at the talking racoon?

Love the character Thor, but lets be honest, Thor 1 & 2 are mediocre. Really looking forward to the third though, hoping for it to be a game changer for the MCU and with a compelling story worthy of the fantastical world of Thor.

I want Jessica Chastain to join me in bed. But we don't always get what we want, do we Chris Hemsworth?

@Th0rOdinson,

Jai Courtney isn't the lead of any franchise at DC, and I'd say Hemsworth is involved in just as many box office bombs as Courtney, maybe 1 or 2 more.

I love that he says he wants to bring the back the fun of an adventure, easily the most riveting moments of The Dark World is the adventure aspect, for examples, when Thor hijacks an Elf spacecraft with Loki and has an elaborate plan to escape Odin's forces, also doing the switcheroo with his hand and Loki when they traveled to the dark elves' world. I think most of the movie should be a cosmic road trip, as has been said, but have them meet strange characters along the way. Sort of make it an actiony wizard of Oz like plot where they keep learning new things on this journey and have excellent character defining moments along the way and try to find new and interesting scenarios to but Thor and Hulk in. Of course, they do NEED the end goal of Ragnarok. I'm hoping for the humor, but I do want this film to be somehow more grounded while also being the most cosmic Thor film, really give the film weight, make the consequences dire, make the action brutal, make the tone serious and dark but with several appropriate moments of levity. I watched 'What we do in the shadows' not too long ago and it balances the very violent dark humor very well while also feeling very uplifting. I really do feel that Taika will do for Thor what James did for Guardians.

But yes to Jessica Chastain joining the MCU, just don't waste her on a throwaway hero or villain.

Please don't make Thor 3 more like GOTG. That was part of the problem with TDW (and AoU)...comedy where it shouldn't be.

Thor could easily cross with Guardians, technically it di already when Sif took the Infinity Stone to the Collector. Of course I'd like to see more.

Th0rOdinson - "Battabing- and yet his thor franchise is still making money including his non mcu movie rush was successful and he is part of the highest grossing franchise since 2011 ,just a few bad films doesn't make him a box office poison

and regarding jai courtney the mere presence of the jai Courtney is enough to poisin the whole franchise just look at terminator Genesis"

Not at all surprised confusing blatant bias opinions and fact.

So, let's compare the REAL box office numbers:

Rush - $90.2M worldwide
Blackhat - $19.5M worldwide (yes, worldwide)
Heart of the Sea - $76.5M worldwide
total - $185M worldwide

Terminator Genesys - $440.6M worldwide ($89.7M domestic, $350.8M international)

To be fair, in no way, shape or form do I believe box office numbers and RT reviews serve as proof or determine whether a film is good or bad! I just noticed the confusion of fact vs opinion. I've only seen Rush, I think it's an awesome movie, so I can't compare the others. And I was surprised it didn't do better than that, but like said I said, can't rely on box office/reviews to reflect good vs bad films. Hell, Twilight & Transformers have great box office numbers, comparable to MCU films, does that make them great films??? hahahaha
