VIDEO: Cate Blanchett Jokes Her THOR: RAGNAROK Role Is The New Goddess Of Thunder

Though it’s been all but confirmed that Cate Blanchett will be playing a big bad villainess in next year’s third Thor installment, here the veteran actress shows her good sense of humor about it as well as her ability to simultaneously dodge a question! Check it out!

We’re still waiting for Marvel Studios to at least acknowledge that Thor: Ragnarok will be directed by Taika Waititi, let alone that it will likely star two-time Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett. However, the actress has been further pressed about her mystery role in the 2017 threequel. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Blanchett was asked flat-out if she’s in Ragnarok, to which she made the revelation that she’ll be taking over for fellow Aussie Chris Hemsworth as the God(dess) of Thunder. Obviously, she’s joking (or is she?), but watch below to see for yourself.

We’re almost certain Cate Blanchett will be playing a supervillain in Thor: Ragnarok, especially given what her prospective co-star Mark Ruffalo said of her potential casting. And also the fact that Marvel typically casts big-name veteran actors as villains if not the lead superhero. However, there is a possibility she could be playing the superheroine Valkyrie, also known as Brunnhilde, which might indicate why Blanchett has offhandedly mentioned playing a superhero not once, but twice. In fact, the Ultimate Valkyrie even described herself as the female Thor sans his special abilities. Anyhow, we’ll find out soon enough, although filming doesn’t start until June. What do you think?

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with Taika Waititi set to direct, and the movie scheduled to release in theaters on November 3, 2017.

I do not mind Cate Blanchett taking over as Thor, as much as I enjoy that Hemsworth.

Bob Dylan? Carol? Not a stretch to play the God of Thunder!

i liked the thor movies, I don't know why people hate them so much. I do agree malekith could have been done better and they should have explained magic better but I still liked the films.

She was kidding!

She's up for a villainous role. Hopefully Hela.

And hopefully she'll reprise her role as Hela in Infinity War and act as a stand-in for Death.

They've stuck themselves in a dead end with the Thor movies because Jane Foster and that whole storyline is the weakpoint and what drags the rest of it down. They need to get rid of her and that whole arc but at this point it wont make any sense for them to do so suddenly. she does my nut in

I don't know why, but this is the celebrity death that has affected me almost irrationally. If anyone was going to be immortal, it was going to be the Starman. R.I.P.

There are very few actors that I don't care what they're doing, I'm gonna see it regardless. Cate Blanchett is one of them. Love her in everything.

Sad about David Bowie. 69 is still young, rip
