THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Chris Hemsworth's God Of Thunder Is Ready For A Fight In Newly Released Still

A new Thor: Love and Thunder still reveals a closer look at the God of Thunder rocking his Guardians of the Galaxy gear and seemingly powering up for a fight. Is there more to the story, though?

The first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder suggested that the God of Thunder might be looking to retire, but what does that mean for his status as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy?

We know they drop him off at some point, but the reason why might now be a little clearer. While the still below suggests that Thor is spoiling for a fight, that first sneak peek showed Star-Lord rolling his eyes at whatever the hero was saying before he and his fellow Guardians raced into battle. Thor seemingly held back, but could that be because the Avenger has had enough of fighting?

A Redditor recently stumbled across some new merchandise in Target with a description that reads, "Long after The Avengers defeat Thanos, the Guardians of the Galaxy must convince Thor to return to the battlefield." Could this be why he ultimately chooses to part ways with the team?

We have a feeling the Thunder God is sick of violence, hence why he returns to New Asgard. However, Gorr the God Butcher's inevitable attack will no doubt force him to power up again.

The movie finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Sounds like an electrifying ride, eh?

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Taika Waititi is the worst thing to happen to Thor since the christinization of Scandinavia.

I say thee nay to thou! Fans clamor for the real Thor to take a stand!

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Taika Waititi is the best thing to happen to Thor.

Thor lost soo much during ragnarok and became so relatable, people were actually literally cheering for him in Infinity War.

@Unguviolet - A director who made Thor into a buffoon, a weak-ass who gets tased and can't even destroy a stupid door, and also a careless asshole who never asks what happened to four of his best friends, three of which are dead, is the best thing to happen to Thor?

Thor lost his dignity in Thor Schlocknarock.
