Marvel Studios has released a new deleted scene from Thor: Love and Thunder confirming that one big development with Zeus, and the movie's post-credits scene, were a result of reshoots. Check it out...

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Russell Crowe's Zeus was depicted as a bumbling comedy antagonist, eventually taking a lightning bolt through the chest after refusing to help the God of Thunder.

He'd later return in the movie's mid-credits scene, telling his son, Hercules, to find Thor and remind Earth what the Gods are all about. However, it appears all of that was added to the Thor: Ragnarok sequel in reshoots as a new deleted scene reveals a very different role for the Olympian in this movie.

As you can see below, it seems Zeus follows Thor to Earth and learns of Jane Foster's plight. That prompts him to willingly give Thor his thunderbolt, and it's clear they parted ways in Omnipotence City, not amicably, but perhaps not quite as violently!

It's actually a little surprising to see Marvel Studios release this deleted scene, especially when there's no sign of The Grandmaster and Eitiri's scrapped roles in Thor: Love and Thunder. Director Taika Waititi has insisted he didn't want fans to see those as they weren't good enough for the movie, but Zeus munching on an ice cream cone was, apparently!

It's a weird one, but we can't complain too much as we're not getting Roy Kent himself, Brett Goldstein, as Hercules. Marvel Studios must have big plans for that character, and while a clash with Thor down the line seems likely, we'd bet on the God somehow being roped into the Thunderbolts (likely taking Ares' place in a team that sounds a lot like the Dark Avengers).

We'll see, but many fans have made it clear that they'd like to see the next Thor movie head down a slightly more serious route after the silliness of this latest effort.

I'm glad they deleted this scene. Not so much because of Zeus, but because I think the shittiest thing you can tell a dying person is that you are unkillable. Makes Thor really unlikeable for me

@bkmeijer1 - idk, I took it as sort of a "you can fight this" sort of thing. It's encouragement.

I'm looking forward to watching this for the first time on Disney+ after hearing all the heavy criticism this summer. My expectations are now so low I'm sure to enjoy it for what it is.
