THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Star Chris Hemsworth Feels It Might Be Time To Kill-Off His Character

The conclusion of Thor: Love and Thunder left the door wide open for the Odinson to return, but Chris Hemsworth feels that if he was to reprise the role, it should probably be for the final time!

Thor: Love and Thunder concluded with a significant status quo change for the title character, with the Odinson gaining a surrogate daughter in the form of Gorr the God Butcher's resurrected child.

Taika Waititi's divisive MCU sequel left the door wide open for the God of Thunder and his Mjölnir-wielding kid to return at some point, but it sounds like Chris Hemsworth may only be down for one more appearance... because he feels it might be about time for Thor to meet his maker!

The Aussie actor was asked if he'd be down to return as the Asgardian hero during an interview with Vanity Fair.

"Yeah, for sure. I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know... am I at that stage? Who knows?"

Hemsworth went on to reiterate that he hasn't actually heard anything about potentially reprising the role, but unless Marvel Studios has another Thor solo outing on their slate we don't know about or plans for Thor to pop up in one of the previously announced Phase 5 movies/shows, we probably won't see him again until Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at the earliest.

In a separate interview with Good Morning America, Hemsworth sounded a little less optimistic about donning the wig and cape again.

“Uh, I don’t know. I’m sort of… finished my run for the time being, but never say never. I love playing the character. My daughter, the other day, was saying, ‘No, no, Dad, you’ve gotta do it. People love seeing you play Thor.’ And so, who knows?”

What do you guys think? Is it time for Thor to join his ancestors in Valhalla? Drop us a comment down below.

I thought the last movie did a great job of it.

@Supercat6376 -

Thor 4 was bad but I love where they left his character. He is a dad now and maybe he will be more serious now💪

@AmazingFILMporg - eh I could see them making him a sitcom dopey dad, but I hope you’re right.

@Supercat6376 - Thor 4 felt like no 1 wanted to make it except for the paycheck. Taika Waititi's press run was just shitting on the terrible VFX and everyone except Russell Crowe phoned it in.

That accent and walk is legendary.

@Supercat6376 - I came to write something very similar. Lol

I think they've already committed character assassination on him.

@mastakilla39 - when I heard it wasn’t good I shrugged it off and expected to enjoy it…. But I found it genuinely bad.

@Feralwookiee - lol I don’t know how they could’ve made it worse. It was a slog to get through.

That's a pretty drastic switch. I remember the lead up to Thor 4 he was super excited to continue the role. Now? "Oh its time he dies".

@Origame - yeah, he probably sat down and watched Thor: L&T and felt the same way a lot of us do. Lol

@Origame - totally! Was about to write that, last time he said he was up to the role as long as Marvel wanted him.

These remarks always sound like contract ($$) threats to me.

@Fogs - They usually are. More of these details are aired publicly than people realize. This is opening negotiations publicly to gauge interest from fans and the studio.

They're gonna have to reboot. A Marvel Universe without Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, T'Challa, and Thor is just wrong.
