Is Michael Bays latest Transformers a winner? Or is it another 'Revenge of the Fallen'?

The Bay-splosions roll into cinemas today, with the launch of the latest Transformers flick, and I was lucky enough to catch a screening of the movie last night!

So, has Michael Bay redeemed himself after ‘Revenge Of The Fallen’?

Well, the answer is both yes, and no…

‘Dark of the Moon’ is a solid popcorn flick, and a great end to Bay’s ‘Transformers’ trilogy.
It’s nice to see Optimus become a real bad arse (the last 30 minutes of the film are EPIC), but the character of Sam has well and truly worn out his welcome. Hopefully in a few years once the reboot comes around, we’ll get some decent human characters for the Transformers to work with.

I will recommend though, after seeing this in 2D, and being generally AGAINST 3D in films, that the best way to see this movie would be at IMAX in 3D. It’s a visual spectacle, and one that deserves to be enjoyed properly. When it comes to the action, Bay has outdone himself, and set the bar for action movies to come.

Also, if you’re planning on taking young children to see the film, I would seriously think twice. The film get’s quite violent at times, with a lot of humans being caught in the crossfire, with some scenes that even I found confronting. So just beware that before taking your 5 year old to see it.

I ask again WTF was wrong with TF2. It was exactly what it was suppose to be, a movie full of nonsense explosions mix with comedy and the hotness that is megan fox. Till' this day i have yet to see any fight scene to top the optimus prime fight scene with 5 decepticons in the woods.

Even Shia has come out and said that with RotF, they started filming before they even had a finished script, and had an unlimited budget... They were making it up as they went along and it really shows with repeat viewings... (Yes, I still watch it, but then again I still watch Batman & Robin on occasion...)

I liked it. It's long but the last half is all action! Shia is much more in command here and I liked Rosie. Thought Dempsey was good too. Wished there was more Shockwave and Megatron seemed to take a further back seat in this (even compared to ROTF).

Ample doses of "Depakote" required. If you've ever wondered what having a seizure is like, "Transformers: DOTM," is your ticket to ride.

"DOTM" is a non-stop orgy of pointless, mind-numbing robot destruction and violence highlighted by an endless parade of mechanical innards whizzing across the screen at 200 MPH.

As for the rest of the movie, the plot is a convoluted mess and the human characters are a joke. Not only is their acting bad but the dialogue appears to have been scripted by a 9 year-old. Also, over the course of 2 hours horn-dog Michael Bay reduces women to nothing more than mindless, annoying hump magnets. Look no further than the frequent up close ass and crotch shots of pneumatic Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the "Vivid" contract girl lookalikes in the background.

Sadly, even the Transformers are lame. Unlike the cartoon and comic books of the 80's, none of the key Transformers are developed enough in the story to the point where you care what's happening to them.

In summary, Michael Bay and the overrated Steven Spielberg succeed magnificently in further destroying a cool sci-fi premise that always had the potential to be awesome in the hands of a more competent, visionary director and producer.
