Transformers ROTF: Megatron and Ravage Design Pics

These new designs were sent in by a scooper. Megatron looks awesome as ever, but WTF happened to Ravage?

This from Transformers Live Action Movie Blog...

"The anonymous source reports that Optimus, Bumblebee, Starscream and Ironhide remain essentially the same.

Ravage's beast mode seems to be a revised draft of the image that was released a little over a month ago that reported that Soundwave's alt mode was a truck (that part denied). As for Megatron, his robot mode does seem to match with the reported tank alt mode.

The image has been photoshopped to increase the size of the original image and remove the background. Pretty bad ass alt mode for Ravage that looks incredibly dangerous. I assume the character would be like Scorpinok. Probably has a robot mode, just doesn’t use it. Megatron looks a lot more compact then his design from the first movie; I wonder where the tank turret went. Click the image for a larger view."

All I have to say is that I hope this movie kicks ass and more will come. The Transformers are classic and these design pics look pretty amazing.

Also I hope they introduce more beast modes, can add a whole new dynamic to the movie.

This looks pretty good but I was wondering if anyone thought giving Megatron Teeth in the last movie made much sense? I am on the fence with the tank version of Megatron unless they are going for the Galvatron look which I think is awesome.. Also, I think maybe they are getting a little to involved with making the robot form reflect exactly what they would look lik in vehicle mode. I could use a bit more humanoid robot features from them.. not a lot but some.. Over all I think they are doing a great job the first movie was good and hopefully this one will be even better..

I hope they learn from others and don't take too many liberties with the source material.. i.e. making devestator a tank in the first movie. Bad move.. made no sense.. should have saved that for the introduction of the constructicons..

Dude, that looks crazy awesome. I hope the next one is as good as or better than the first one. Just seeing these pics gets me excited!

But, there better be more action in this one than there was in the first...that's the only negative thing i have to say about the first.

So far, I like what I am seeing! I agree with Fartman, we need more action! Either way, it should be good!

Who in the world thought of giving robots moving mouths and eyebrows? It's just plain ridiculous. And they move SO fast, ridiculous! Not conceivable...

I wish they made these movies more credible. That would make them more enjoyable.

I'm actually against the animal versions, sinse it appears they are not keeping with original forms of characters. When they're not in robot form they are supoosed to blend in to hind, and sorry a robot cat or Scorpion doesn't work for me. now if Soundwave was still a cassette recorder or something similar and then ravage went along with him like in the cartoon then that would be fine but as him being a seperate entity I'm not buying it. I guess I'm just a purist. I'm interested in seeing how they bring Megatron back, but I would like to see some of the second generation of characters get written, that would be second gen after the animated movie not the Beast wars.

ScorpioEagle1 how would you feel if they went more human, almost like a DATA type robot or even more human. I agree you dont want robots to have human features but my sources are saying there is going to be organic robots.
ScorpioEagle1
ScorpioEagle1 - 12/8/2008, 3:50 PM
Hmm wow.. a DATA type robot.. that would be cool.. that would add a new twist to it. I'd be on board with that as a way of espionage.. I realize they added the teeth to make Megatron seem more sinister and brutal.

I think they have to make it fresh and new.. we don't want to arecount of stories we already know but I liked the Galvatron character he was simply crazed!!! I think that would be a great personality to add to the next movie. I don't need Rodimus or the passing of the matrix or anything but a crazy good fight scene between Optimus and Mega/Galvatron in the end would be great but one that doesn't make Optimus look like he got beat up. The Fight scene in Transformers The Movie was incredible and that was 1986..

Also, before I say this I loved the movie but why did they go with the "ALSPARK" as the creator of life and why did it only make decepticons or bad robots? That didn't make much sense.. I think they should have just went with the Vector Sigma lore.. I mean it makes more sense machines made by machines.. The "ALLSPARK" should have been just a radical Deception weapon.. Why the pods landing on earth why not Teletran One crash landing.. the changes don't make much sense. Now they have no base no access to there own technology. I guess it allows them to truly build a new Transformers Universe but still I guess I'm like talonn2001 I'm just a purist at heart.. I don't mind the changes as long as they make sense.. and add or better the story but changes just for the sake of change is stupid..

what can make the sequel better - more explosions! "Awesome!"

Seriously, Michael Bay needs to concentrate more on the writing and plot this time round or else I might just wait to see the sequel until it comes out on video if at all.

They have mouths Inohaku, because they are still life forms...

Iam actually ok with the new forms, as long they don't change the story line to extreme--hint (iceman & rogue, Magneto looking to old & weak)--where is the muscles & long hair.

I do love the detail & that they are taking there time with the CGI--LOOKS so real. Very compariable to cinematics on RPG GAMES OR even better.

I'm hoping this one is WAY better than the first... Megatron looks better and I'm digging Ravage, but I also wanna see who is brother is!

Huge surprise, Michael Bay screwing up more transformers. This may be a cool action film, like the first, but it will still suck as a transformers movie.

They are still life forms...so they gave them mouths because, hummm, let's see, they eat? Sorry, it just ruins it for me.

These will be a lot of fun. As far as staying to the original Transformers stories or designs, you can throw that idea right out the window. These films are a separate entity. It's pointless look at this and say "gah! They completely ruined everything good and wonderful about Megatron because he... looks... mean... and robots have mouths." I have to look at this as a separate project and enjoy it for what it is.

If you want to be a jerk about all the tiniest of things in the movie, then this movie simply will not be for you. I personally enjoy the complexity put into the movie's design, and I enjoy the adventure.

OK NOW THATS MORE LIKE IT, MEGATRON LOOK LIKE GALVATRON, I SEE THE GUN ON HIS ARM, THATS THE WAY..RAVAGE I LIKE BUT DONT MAKE HIM A CYCLOPS, STICK WITH THE PANTHER THING..
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 12/9/2008, 12:34 AM
WHY DO I FEEL THAT RAVAGE WILL BE THE RESULT OF "THE FALLEN"'S WAY OF RE-INVENTING A DAMAGED SCORPINOK?..I HAVE THE FEELING ALSO THAT THE FALLEN IS UNICRON, AWAKENED WHEN THE ALLSPARK WAS PLACED INTO MEGATRONS CHEST.THE ALLSPARK WAS UNICRONS PRISON..WHAT DO YOU THINK GUYS?...JUST A THEORY...

On the mouth thing I do believe they consumed energon cubes like it was food as well as other uses for them. I don't mind the altering of the look of the characters but they should still be related to the original forms of the characters just updated to match the time period. If the cat/panther form of Ravage is its robot form and it still has a non living form as well i'll be fine with it. Ravage does need 2 eyes, i find myself staring at that 1 eye.

I agree with grif and WeaponX completely. Michael bay is ruining even more of our beloved transformers. I have no doubts that the movie will be great like the first. I also have no doubts that afterwards the second I'll be saying "Why did he have to make all these stupid changes?" - just like after the first. Come on Michael, we want the TRANSFORMERS we all grew up with, not over-stylized piece of crap robots that resemble them!

So, Megatron has a penis, it's obvious. Ok guys, we can see that.
All right, what it's gonna be? a porn version of Transformers? Sure it's gonna be full of action. Don't worry... LOL

This particular movie has lots of these types... people who hate movies simply because they're so well liked and then justify they're unwarranted distaste with half-@$$ed observations. The first movie was great. I've actually heard lots of people talking smack about the design of the bots... when in fact that was possibly the best part of the movie. I tracked that movie since it was announced and I almost cringed when I heard they were considering designing the robots exactly the way the were in the show. YAY! IMPOSSIBLY WARPING METAL! WE HATE PROPORTIONS! MAGICAL TRAILER APPEARS OUT OF NO WHERE! Sorry the new designs simply make sense and if they would've kept it original the movie would've lost any credibility it had.

Also you guys will be happy to know that Michael has said that he wants to keep the lips covered more often in this movie, especially for the autobots.

As for why the all-spark on made "bad" robots, there's several very logical explanations for that. One, remember that all modern technology was backwards engineered from Megatron, perhaps the evil is in the design. But a more logical explanation is that the Mountain Dew machine for example (coolest robot in the movie IMO) is a primitive machine (when compared to the Transformers) and it suddenly brought to life and is simply scared. It's obvious that size has some correlation with the robot's intellect and social standing with the tallest robots being the leaders and the smallest ones being mere add-ons or assists (Scropinok and Frenzy). Smaller robots on Cybertron might be like animals or simply more savage life-forms.
