UPDATE: Lucy Griffiths Joins PREACHER; Dominic Cooper In Final Talks

She may have missed out on a role in Constantine (Angelica Celaya replaced her as Zed) but former True Blood alum Lucy Griffiths will get another crack at a DC Vertigo adaptation when she joins Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun and Ian Colletti in Preacher. Click on for more...

British actress Lucy Griffith played the female lead in the Constantine pilot but wound up being replaced by Angélica Celaya's Zed when the series was picked up. Well, she'll have a chance to make an impact in a other small-screen Vertigo adaptation as THR reports that Griffiths has been cast in AMC's Preacher as character who seems to have been created just for the show, Emily Woodrow. The site describe Emily as "a no-nonsense single mother of three. Emily's a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse's loyal right hand. Stoic and strong, wise beyond her years, she can’t help but have a little thing for Preacher Jesse."

In Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic series, we only saw Jesse as a practising preacher very briefly so unless Griffiths is only a part of flashback scenes, we might be looking at an extra character going on the road with the core trio. Of course we don't know what kind of changes Seth Rogen and co. have made to the source material yet so we'll have to wait and see. Griffith joins Ruth Negga as Tulip, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy and Ian Colletti as Arseface.

UPDATE: It had been rumored previously, but now The Wrap report that Dominic Cooper is nearing a deal to star as Jesse Custer.
