Of the characters that have been introduced to the more recent seasons of The Walking Dead one of the fan favorites has been Connie -- the deaf love interest of Dary Dixon (Norman Reedus, Boondock Saints, Blade 2) played by Lauren Ridloff (Legacies). During the Season 10 midseason premiere however it SPOILER seemed to viewers that this character was left to die as the others escaped the explosion in the cave they were led into by Alpha.

This is because Ridloff was recently nabbed by Marvel to play Makkari in the upcoming film Eternals which hits theaters November 6th of this year. Makkari will be the first deaf character to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it will definitely be interesting to see her interact with the other heroes on screen. It was confirmed by showrunner Angela Kang that the actress' commitment to the MCU was what effected her seemed demise -- to a point.

"That is a very apt observation; yeah, there is some aspect of that that is true but I think that for the story that's actually worked out very beautifully. I think there's some really interesting stuff that came out of it for both Carol and Daryl, and she's a character that I think is leading in emotion for both of them. So sometimes when you have to do things like that to help out an actor it works in your favor."

Ridloff joins an all-star cast in Marvel's Eternals which includes Angelina Jolie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), Salma Hayek (From Dusk Til Dawn), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Gemma Chan (Captain Marvel), amongst others.

What do you think of these developments? Are you excited to see Ridloff follow Gurira to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or would you prefer she remained on The Walking Dead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The Walking Dead Season 10 returns with Episode10 on Sunday, March 1st while Marvel's Eternals will hit theaters on November 6th, 2020.

I fell off this show hard. I think back in Season 8. I skipped a handful of episodes and finished when they finally beat Negan. May have watched an episode of Farewell Rick season. But this show is largely off my radar. Has it improved at all? Is it worth it or did I stop at a good point?

I love my zombie fix, but I just hear that all TWD and FTWD properties aren't worth it anymore. Any suggestions?

@VicSage - I fell off when glen met lucille. Its still 1 of the highest watched tv show every year despite the drop in views so it must still be good.

especially if they are making 2 more spin off shows too.

@VicSage - Any suggestions?

I guess there's Black Summer and Kingdom on Netflix.

@VicSage - The showrunner changed around the time you left and seriously stepped things up.

Once Glen died it seemed to alienate a lot of viewers and stumble for a while but it has found it's footing and when it, like all shows, has it's slow episodes, it has been arguably at its best lately.

If you're itching you might as well give it a shot!

@Reeds2Much - Oh, yeah! Loved Kingdom. Haven't seen Black Summer though. Asian cinema and TV is amazing in my opinion. They're delivering everything I want right now. Train to Busan was pure.... magnificence.

@LiteraryJoe - It got better? I'll be damned... *sigh* Fine, I'll do some catching up I guess

Wait. So they're making Makkari into a black deaf woman? I officially have no reason to watch Eternals. Makkari was the only character I gave a damn about.

@rabid - They're really banking on the general public and casual fans not knowing these characters, thus allowing them the freedom to completely "reinvent" them. For what it's worth, Feige really knows when to use this tactic. I feel other studios really drop the ball here. YOU may be upset that Makkari isn't a white male, but casual fans don't know or care.

Then, you have DC who give us shells of Huntress, Cassandra Cain, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya. Characters I would say are way more popular than Makkari. WB/DC thought they could change these characters significantly when really, they shouldn't have. Just my opinion.

@VicSage - This is just the Cassandra/BOP situation all over again.nonreaders wouldn't know the difference, but it's a nonstarter for an old collector like me. And for the record, Feige has done a spotty job in the past of changing characters. It worked for Heimdall, but it ruined Ghost, Valkyrie, Flash, and MJ. IMO.
