DOCTOR WHO 60th Anniversary Trailer Reveals Episode Titles As Neil Patrick Harris' Villain Takes Center Stage

Prior to this past Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, BBC released a new trailer for Doctor Who (via SFFGazette.com) that offers fans a thrilling glimpse of what to expect later this year when the TARDIS lands in time to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The titles of each of the upcoming specials have also been unveiled, and those are:

Special One: The Star Beast
Special Two: Wild Blue Yonder
Special Three: The Giggle

In this latest preview, we see David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, while Catherine Tate is also back as Donna Noble. Elsewhere in the teaser, Yasmin Finney makes an appearance, as does Neil Patrick Harris' mysterious villain as he shares a dance with the Doctor.

"The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet," showrunner Russell T Davies says. "Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna and disaster about to be unleashed!"

Following these specials, Ncuti Gatwa will take over as the Fifteenth Doctor in season 14 where he'll be joined by Millie Gibson as new companion Ruby Sunday. We don't anticipate that being premiering until 2024, though Gatwa will likely make his debut in "The Giggle."

While Doctor Who has a loyal, undeniably passionate fanbase, it doesn't seem unfair to say that BBC's budget for the series has held it back to some extent. Now, with Disney+ involved as an international distributor for Doctor Who, as much as triple is expected to be spent from season to season, and if what we see here is any indication, the show is already benefitting.

Keep checking SFFGazette.com for the latest Doctor Who updates.

The more we see from this, and the more it’s made clear that the 60th anniversary will just be focusing RTDs last Doctor and companion, the more I just want to get past it and move on Ncuti as the Doctor. If the anniversary special aren't going to be about the whole show and just series 4 then I’m not that interested

@Twenty23Three - Its most likely that a lot of the stuff from the entire show are being hidden. Which good, I want to see some surprises

@Twenty23Three - Yep. Just need it to settle down into an ongoing series again.

@Mrcool210 - oh don’t get me wrong I don’t want the whole thing spoiled either, but surprises isn’t going to change the fact it’s a 10th (or 14th) Doctor and Donna set of stories primarily

If we're just moving on and not addressing 'that thing' they did to the Doctor's origin - I won't be a happy widdle bunny wabbit.

I thought they could at least use DT's return for a reset of some kind.

@BillyBatson1000 - Timeless Child, as long as that exists Doctor Who is a garbage franchise. Used to be one of my favorites, been watching and reading Who since I was like 8 years old.

@WarMonkey - Damn right. It's like casually cr*pping on 60 years of the shows history - everything it was founded on - everything that made it function. For what? A throw-away plot twist?

Most excited I’ve been for Doctor Who in a long time.

@MrDandy - right? It's become daily check-in for me where I'm looking for new news regularly. I cannot wait for this and hope it gets back to the heights of Tennant's first run, the numbers and the buzz were so much fun. Smith/11 even had the same magic for a while and I think Ncuti/15 can be just as exciting
