BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER And FIREFLY Could Be Coming To Disney+ Somewhere Down The Line

Disney is looking to add more Fox properties to the line up on Disney+, and according to a questionnaire sent out to some users, Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly could be among them...

Disney+ recently launched in the UK, and unlike its US counterpart, it includes movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Now, it appears as if Disney is looking to add more Fox properties to the streaming service in both countries, as some users have reportedly been receiving questionnaires about certain TV shows.

Surprisingly, among them are Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the cult classic hit Firefly!

According to Twitter user @Griddlemarks, this survey asked if users of Disney+ would be interested in watching these TV shows on the streaming service.

Firefly ran from 2002 - 2003, and the outcry following its cancellation meant we eventually got a big screen sequel in the form of Serenity. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, meanwhile, was a hit and ran for seven seasons (it also spawned a popular spinoff with Angel).

The same survey asked if the likes of Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother would also be of interest, so Disney is clearly hoping to bring a number of Fox favourites to this service. That will obviously increase interest in a big way, as it's vital with a streaming service like this to continue adding both archive content and new TV shows and movies.

The latter could be a struggle right now, though, especially with Hollywood productions on pause.

Would you guys watch these shows on Disney+?

Good! They need more shows that arent as "family friendly" if they want to compete with other streaming services. And no, Hulu does not count.

@Himura - Why in the Hell do you think they would go in that direction ?
Himura
Himura - 3/26/2020, 9:57 AM
@JDL - ....obviously because a lot of people are saying it sucks and there's not enough content?

@Himura - Disney + is not a wide spectrum service. They want to specialize in their stuff and that stuff not R rated.

@JDL - Well they clearly want to compete with Netflix and Amazon so they're gonna have to start broadening their audience. I'm not saying it has to be "R rated" but just have more content for adults and older audiences...yknow, the people who actually pay for the service.

@Himura - Actually they have made it clear that they do not want to compete with Netflix in areas other than what they do now. Stuff outside of that narrow area goes to Hulu.

Good IP is going to start to disappear as the streamers gobble it all up.

I haven't watched either but they're on my infinite list of things to watch since people who have seen them are constantly on about how amazing they are. So.. yes please.

I think D+ should be just an optional "Chanel" Then.could have their blocks as D+(kids), Jetix+(12+) ABC+ and Fx(adult)+.

I don't know why Buffy hasn't been continued yet. They can bring a new show continuing the stories from the comics or draw inspiration from them. Same with Angel. Or create show based on the activated Slayers around the world.

@johndawg - The owners of the IP were trying to do a non-Whedon involved reboot which nobody wanted, last I heard.

I’d love it, but they’d be the darkest things on Disney+ by far, so I’m not holding my breath.

Firefly!!!

I need that now, now, now. And a continuation to it that's not in comic-book form.

@8thDoctor - While it's probably too late to do a continuation in live action, with all of the cast having aged and moved on, I'd love to see a high end animated Firefly show like Clone Wars or What if? on Disney+

@Chewtoy - I'd kill for an animated continuation with the cast coming back to do it.
