Like The CW’s other superhero shows, Black Lightning is officially set to return for a third season later this fall, and now it seems fans won’t have to wait as long as they thought to see Jefferson Pierce return to action.

While the series’ latest outing was originally slated to premiere Monday, October 21, the network has officially announced that season 3 of the Cress Williams-led series will kick off two weeks earlier on October 7. This shift in premiere dates is just the latest piece of news to come out for Black Lightning, as it was recently confirmed that characters from the series would participate in the Arrowverse’s forthcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.

Along with actor Cress Williams, Black Lightning season 3 will also see stars Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain, Christine Adams, and Marvin “Krondon” Jones III return to reprise their respective roles.

I gotta say, this looks pretty great:

It's still set in new 52 bullshit, but the art and animation with this one looks really crisp. Brings me back to the pre Justice League War era of DC animation.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Yeah, I don't know why they're pushing that continuity so hard since the New 52 is no more. It felt so out of place in Death of Superman. Is this movie based on a particular storyline?

@soberchimera - @soberchimera - I believe it's an original story, which I rather have than for them to ruin a classic by forcing it into the new 52 universe e.g. Son of Batman, Hush, Judas Contract, Death of Superman like you mentioned.
But like I said, even though this is another new 52 movie, I think the animation on this one looks much better than what we've been getting. It seems more Flashpoint, less Justice League War.

@soberchimera - I would wager that they will announce, if not this year, the following year a transition to Rebirth which will include Doomsday Clock. I just feel like Rebirth needs to expand a bit further so there is enough material to adapt.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - looks good, hopefully it lives up to the 2009 animated film and the patty Jenkins film

@Reverend - include Doomsday Clock.

How would they animate the constant delays?

@Reeds2Much - All I'm saying is I'm sure it's a matter of time before theydrop the New 52 as the basis for their animated universe. Also, lol.

Hype for Joker Rises

First of all [‘Joker’ is] terrific. So it should play on our largest stage, but it’s a really original take on comic book movies and on the Joker character in particular. But it has an interesting tone and approach to it.

It’s set in the late ’70s, early ’80s and it feels like it was made then. It’s gritty in its look. It has references to Martin Scorsese’s filmmaking and it feels like a cinematic achievement on a high level.

Although it’s working with very populist material, it has great ambition. That’s why it’s a Gala. I think people will be looking at Joaquin Phoenix’s performance in Joker. It’s that good.”

I've been going through James Gray's filmography to get ready for Ad Astra and Phoenix is reaaally good in Two Lovers & The Immigrant. Underrated work.

Sounds good. I am curious how they will handle the Markovia war until the time comes for some characters to appear in Crisis.

@NinnesMBC - wonder if they will go to markovia, this agent seems pretty bad, have a feeling Jeff is going to have to work with Tobias to get out of this

@Forthas - I'm thinking this will definitely have to do with Time Travel in some way.

@L0RDbuckethead - I actually think it has to do with parallel universes. In the motion capture poster, the word tenet spins around revealing that the first two letters parallel the last two. Not sure how you make a movie about it but from a visual branding of the logo...it makes the most sense to me.
