HBO Max has announced that Doom Patrol is set to return to our screens for its fourth season on December 8, and the first teaser trailer debuted earlier tonight during New York Comic-Con.

The footage begins with the return of season 3's Were-Butts, who are now performing show tunes (Shipoopi)! Does this make them less or more dangerous? We're not too sure, but the team appears to have their hands full dealing with the singing sphincters!

We also get some brief glimpses of new characters, such as Codpiece and Casey Brinke, AKA Space Case, along with our returning heroes.

The official synopsis tells is that: “Season 4 opens with the team unexpectedly travelling to the future to find an unwelcome surprise. Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world?”

Season 4 of Doom Patrol will see the return of Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele (aka Robotman), Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor (aka Negative Man), Diane Guerrero as “Crazy Jane,” April Bowlby as Rita Farr (aka Elasti-Woman), Joivan Wade as Victor “Vic” Stone (aka Cyborg), and Michelle Gomez as Laura de Mille (aka Madame Rouge).

The show will premiere with two episodes in December, with a single instalment following every Thursday through Jan. 5. Six additional episodes will be released sometime in 2023.

Loved the first season until the end
Hated what little of what s2 I saw
And just couldn’t get the desire to go back…

I guess my question after reading the synopsis, how is this any different than the other seasons? They’re always fighting their personal happiness and the fate of the world…

@TheFireForce - how is this any different than the other seasons?

The badonks are singing this season.

Show is equal parts morose and absurd. All shows have their formulas, so I doubt they're going to change much.

House of the Dragon and Los Espookys holding HBO Max down for awhile.

@SonOfAGif - White Lotus Season 2 kicks off at the end of the month, that'll help.

Thankfully, they've got the best back-catalog of any streamer, IMO. Killer lineup of movies and shows contemporary and classic.

Not that it's perfect, but I'm content to be living in a timeline where Codpiece of all characters gets a live adaptation. We're close to Bueno Excellante and Section Eight, freund.

@Reeds2Much - kinda bummed by the look of cod piece. Looks like a great value Randy Savage.

I'm so down for a Hitman adaptation tho.

This show just didn’t do it for me. I bought Season 1 cheap and don’t know if I even bothered to finish it.

1st season was greatness then it gradually got more nonsensical and less entertaining. I'm not feeling what they're doing with Rouge or that they're still fighting the butts. This show misses Mr Nobody but I'm glad to see them be more like heroes.

Season 1 was good for the most part, haven't seen the other seasons.

Grant Morrison has one messed up mind.

I'm not sure I will be coming back after last season. That was so bad and uninteresting and singing asses sounds so lame. I got excited for a bit last season with the inclusion of the new Lady from the past, can't recall her name now and she also played The Master in Doctor Who. She was fun to watch and I enjoyed her a lot but every scene without her just fell flat for me. The OG characters I liked I don't like anymore. It's 3 seasons and they haven't progressed as characters hardly at all. And lastly, I'm sick and tired of time-traveling stories in comic properties.
