iZOMBIE Gets Season 5 Renewal; CW Passes On WAYWARD SISTERS; Picks Up VAMPIRE DIARIES Spinoff & 4 More
Get ready for a fifth serving of brains as The CW has officially announced that its renewed iZombie for Season 5. They've also picked up five other series, but unfortunately not Wayward Sisters.
In the best news of the day, The CW has renewed iZombie for a fifth season.
The beloved Rose McIver-led series is currently in the midst of an intense fourth season and has two episodes left to air before its season finale on May 28th. Monday's installment will see Liv consume the brains of a germaphobe, which should be quite hysterical as she tries to survive through flu season.
On a more disappointing note, the network has passed on the Supernatural spinoff, Wayward Sisters, which is definitely surprising since the backdoor pilot in January was received exceptionally well by both critics and fans alike. Supernatural remains the network's second-highest rated program with one of the largest fanbases on the internet, so it's curious to see the network pass on an opportunity to capitalize with a sister series in the same universe.
Following the news, the stars and showrunner expressed their disappointment:
In other CW news, the network has renewed The 100 and has canceled both Life Sentence and Valor.
The CW has also announced today that they've picked up The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spinoff, Legacies, which will tell the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. Additional pickups include Charmed; In The Dark; Roswell, New Mexico; and All American. Read the new series synopses below:
