At Least Two DC TV Shows On The CW Likely To Be Canceled With BATWOMAN And LEGENDS Among Those At Risk

The CW has yet to make a decision about four of its DC TV shows, and a new report suggests that half of them could be facing the axe. That doesn't bode well for Batwoman or the popular Legends of Tomorrow.

Big changes are currently taking place at The CW thanks to questions over its future owner and Discovery's acquisition of WarnerMedia. With budget cuts expected, the network hasn't renewed as many TV shows as it otherwise might, and only its strongest performers - including The FlashRiverdale, Superman & Lois, and Walker - are currently set to return for new seasons this year.

Where does that leave some of our favourite DC TV shows? According to Deadline, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Naomi, and the upcoming Gotham Knights are all on the bubble right now.

The trade has heard that only two of those four projects are likely to make it to next season, and assuming The CW is happy with the Gotham Knights pilot, Batwoman's future is very much in doubt. Ratings for the series - which has been mired in controversy ever since Ruby Rose's departure - have not been great, and The CW is unlikely to want two shows set in Gotham City.

Despite Ava DuVernay's involvement with Naomi, it hasn't generated a tonne of buzz among fans and that could bode well for those hoping Legends of Tomorrow will get at least one final season. However, it's noted that while Pedowitz would typically give a show like Legends a final season for a proper send-off, that's a decision that could be out of his hands and in those of the new owners.

There's been a great deal of speculation about what sort of future the DC Universe will have on The CW, especially with Warner Bros. looking to bolster up its HBO Max offerings. While we're by no means suggesting this could be the beginning of the end for the Arrowverse, there's already talk of The Flash wrapping up soon, so DC projects on the network might soon become increasingly limited.
