PEACEMAKER: Yes, That Was Actually John Cena Playing The Piano In This Week's Episode

In the closing moments of this week's episode of Peacemaker, "Murn After Reading," Christopher Smith plays a beautiful instrumental cover of Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home" on the piano. It's a lovely scene which shows us a more soulful and artistic side of the ruthless vigilante, and a lot of fans wondered if John Cena actually played the tune himself.

Director James Gunn has now revealed that, yes, the former WWE Superstar is a dab hand on the keys.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to confirm that Cena did indeed play the piano in the scene, before explaining the real-life inspiration for the sequence. While he was working on The Suicide Squad, Gunn got word that his beloved dog was on the way out, and decided to fly home to spend some time with him before he passed. He ended up in hotel lobby bar with Cena while he was waiting for his ride to the airport, and the actor went over to the piano to play a cover of The Pixies' classic "Where Is My Mind."

Gunn says the song "crushed me & yet soothed me" at the same time, and it sounds like he wasn't the only one in the bar to get a bit emotional.

Be sure to check out the full story in the thread below.

There are only two episodes of Peacemaker to go, and next week's is arguably the strongest of the season. The finale was not made available to critics for fear of spoilers finding their way online, which means it most likely contains its share of big reveals and/or surprises.

Have you guys been enjoying the show so far?

We need a Ratcatcher show, give Taika a small role in more flashbacks.

Cena for a Conan the barbarian reboot. He can bring real depth to the role

Finally started watching this week. I dont know I think it has some merit but sometimes the humor is a bit too juvenile for me. Most of the stuff I enjoy involves Vigilante or Eagly and that’s a about it. I appreciate what it’s going for but feel like the animated Harley Quinn show is a better example in just about every way of what this show is trying to be.

He ruined wrestling for me and now he is ruining my superhero genre.

I respect it. Shit is about to hit the fan in the show so it thematically worked well too, as a calm before the storm type of scene. Not just a shoe-in to show off Cena's talent.

Show is solid for me.

Went in not being much a fan of the character nor Cena, but the show is overall enjoyable!

Kind of like Dune for me, solid movie but the supporting cast is what I enjoy the most.
