SWAMP THING: New Poster Released As CW President Comments On Possible Second Season

We recently learned that The CW had picked up the rights to air the now cancelled Swamp Thing series, and the network has released some new poster art featuring Abby Arcane and The Earth Elemental himself.

Swamp Thing was one of the main selling points of the DC Universe streaming service when it launched last year, but despite a highly positive reception from fans and critics alike, the decision was made to scrap the show after just a single season.

Fans had assumed that was the end for the series, but a glimmer of hope emerged with the news that the broadcasting rights have now been picked up by The CW, and the network plans to air the first (and only) season at some point.

We were told at the time that no plans were in place to develop new episodes, but CW president Mark Pedowitz said he'd be open to "having those conversations later on" if enough interest was shown.

"At the moment, it's just the one season," Pedowitz explained. "I do not know if it would come back. Obviously that would be a discussion for Warner Bros. and The CW. But at this time, Swamp Thing is just the episodes we have."

All we can do is hope that the reruns get enough traction that the decision makers are forced to take notice. Swamp Thing was technically confirmed as being part of the Arrowverse during last year's Crisis on Infinite Earths event, so there's definitely some crossover potential.

We'll keep you guys updated. For now, check out some new poster art featuring Swamp Thing and Dr. Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed).

Me: Second Swamp Thing season?!? Are you serious? I’m so excited.... I thought you’d never do it.

WB: Yea right!?.... we’re excited too! Plus it’s going to be on the CW!

@Kman - Expect season 2 to make refrences to feminism and Leroy Jenkins if the CW makes it.

Cautiously optimistic? Maybe if they give it a later time slot they can get away with the looser standards. I mean AoS managed to do some body horror and blood when they did that.

It's just not gonna happen on a CW budget. The reason it couldn't sustain originally was they relied on tax breaks that were promised and never came. Way too expensive to maintain a studio built swamp set for months and months on a tv production budget.

They would have to go cheaper with night shoots in actual locations.

@tugboy - agreed show was awesome. Crystal Reed was awesome. Derek Meers as ST was awesome... what the F is up with WB not making shows and movies everyone wants to see. But making shows and movies nobodys really bothered about!?!

How exactly is this going to air on the CW when F-bombs are dropped multiple times per episode and people get mutilated?

It’ll be edited for tv which makes me lose interest. 😔

If it can be revived for a 2nd Season it could be on HBO Max because that is where Doom Patrol is getting theirs.

Although if The CW ever green lights a Constantine show post his time on Legends Swamp Thing could be a regular character. The possibilties are out there and are endless, just a matter of WB organizing itself well on that.
