Swamp Thing was one of the main selling points of the DC Universe streaming service when it launched last year, but despite a highly positive reception from fans and critics alike, the decision was made to scrap the show after just a single season.
Fans had assumed that was the end for the series, but a glimmer of hope emerged with the news that the broadcasting rights have now been picked up by The CW, and the network plans to air the first (and only) season at some point.
We were told at the time that no plans were in place to develop new episodes, but CW president Mark Pedowitz said he'd be open to "having those conversations later on" if enough interest was shown.
"At the moment, it's just the one season," Pedowitz explained. "I do not know if it would come back. Obviously that would be a discussion for Warner Bros. and The CW. But at this time, Swamp Thing is just the episodes we have."
All we can do is hope that the reruns get enough traction that the decision makers are forced to take notice. Swamp Thing was technically confirmed as being part of the Arrowverse during last year's Crisis on Infinite Earths event, so there's definitely some crossover potential.
We'll keep you guys updated. For now, check out some new poster art featuring Swamp Thing and Dr. Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed).
