Y: THE LAST MAN - FX On Hulu Finally Releases A Teaser Trailer For Long-Awaited DC Vertigo Adaptation

Fans of FX on Hulu's upcoming adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's Y: The Last Man have been anxiously awaiting a look at some footage from the show, and... they're going to have to keep waiting!

To say FX on Hulu's upcoming adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's seminal comic series Y: The Last Man has not had the smoothest of journeys to the screen would be an understatement, but filming kicked-off late last year, and we finally have a first teaser trailer for the show.

Unfortunately, it doesn't actually contain any footage!

Instead, the animated promo - which might well end up being used for the opening credits - outlines the premise, which sees practically every male mammal on the planet die suddenly and seemingly without explanation. The only survivors with a Y chromosome are a young man named Yorick Brown (Ben Schnetzer) and his pet monkey, Ampersand.

Eliza Clark took over from Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croalin as showrunner last year, while Ashley Romans (I'm Dying Up Here; NOS4A2) and Olivia Thirlby (Dredd; Juno) were also brought in to replace originally cast Lashana Lynch and Imogen Poots as Agent 355 and Hero Brown, respectively.

No reason was given at the time, but chances are scheduling conflicts became an issue when production was delayed.

Louise Friedberg is directing the first two episodes from Clark's script. All Season 1 episodes will be helmed by women.

Y: The Last Man also stars Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Diana Bang, Elliot Fletcher and Juliana Canfield, and is set to premiere on September 13.

I just realized today that “Y” in the title is for the XY chromosome which determines gender 🤦‍♂️

It’s kind of a confusing promo verbiage wise.

It doesn’t really make it clear that all males are gone except for one (2 counting Ampersand), they just try and hit home that most high paying jobs are held by men.

I really enjoyed the comic, definitely a fun, bizarre adventure.
Looking forward to this.

The comic was some of the best stuff I’ve read consistently. With how messy the journey of the production of the show has been, I’m not too confident in it.

Real subtle music

I was hoping this trailer would give me a little more, since I don't really know what the comics are about either

This year?!?! They're finally doing it and it's already coming out this year?! They've shot it and everything?!
Wow.

Not getting hyped until I see footage though.
Show me the monkey.

I still can't believe this is actually happening. I have high hopes for it! I will say, the trans discourse is likely going to be toxic AF if they tackle the issue (which they should).
They need to keep the all women directing team up until the last episode and let that one be done by a man, make it a fun gag.
