With all that has happened in Westeros, House Lannister sat in the Iron Throne mainly in part of Lord Tywin's doing. While doing all in his power to keep the Lannister name alive and honorable, he has done a lot of unsavory things, and some of those have even harmed family members, none more than Tyrion Lannister. After putting up with so much, Tyrion's anger takes the better of him after being sentenced to death by his own father and finding out all the treachorous things he has done to him.
And so, Tyrion takes matters into his own hands.
