Pregnant at the time of shooting and preferring to focus her attention on conveying the emotion of the intense 6-minuet sequence, Lena Headey chose to make use of a body double for Cersei Lannister's "walk of atonement". The show’s visual effects team then merged both performances together, and though a few people noticed something was off on a few shots, the results were pretty seamless.

EW caught up with actress Rebecca Van Cleave, who was tasked with the unenviable job of walking naked through scores of extras while having all manner of stuff thrown at her - and had never performed a nude scene before!

“It was one of the scariest, most wonderful, most gratifying experiences I could have imagined. I never in a million years would have thought I would be in Dubrovnik surrounded by hundreds of extras and crew members throwing food at me, but it was amazing. It was actually the most comfortable casting I’ve ever had, considering.”

But, Van Cleave admits that things did get a bit difficult and emotional towards the end. "Particularly moments when I got all kinds of stuff thrown at me, with the chamber pots [being dumped out],” she tells the site. “Then on the last day, there was a well of emotion when she’s finally getting to the end and I was getting to the end too—not in a bad way, it’s almost like being one with the character.” For more from Van Cleave, Lena Headey and director David Nutter be sure to click the link below.
