Following on from the news that Morgan Freeman will co-star in Joseph Kosinski's upcoming Sci-fi flick we have another casting announcement. Joining Freeman, Tom Cruise, Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko is Game Of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. According to Deadline..

Coster-Waldau will play Sykes, a battle-hardened, physically imposing, intelligent and extremely athletic military technology and weapons expert.

Oblivion is based on Kosisnski's graphic novel of the same name and focuses on the last man (Cruise) on a post-apocalyptic Earth, who stays behind to repair ships that hunt down and blast a virulent alien species. Michael Arndt is currently working on script re-writes that had earlier drafts by William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing through Chernin Entertainment along with Barry Levine and Kosinski. You can see Coster-Waldau return as a slightly more humble Jaimie Lannister in season two of Game Of Thrones in April.

Ahhh, Cruise is doing it again. Now he tapping popular fanboy TV show actors to garner our support for his projects.

Skrew. You. Cruise.

Why the Cruise hate? Man may be a lunatic, still makes a few cool flicks.

As if Cruise needs the extra 000.01 percent of fanboys to make a difference to his box office clout!Fanboys really think they're more significant than they actually are. If the average scifi or coomic geeks had any level of clout that the likes of Harry Potter fans or Twilight fans had then Hollywood would actually bother registering them as a considerable factor!

Cruise is a tool.
There are other great actor's making good films:
Chris Pine
Sharlto Copley
Tom Hardy
Viggo Mortensen
Johnny Depp
Robert Downey Jr.
...so on, etc.

The difference? They don't own a production company . Cruise does. He knows he doesn't own a CB character property , so he 'nibbles at the edges' to try and capitalize on the CBM trend in order to keep his stock holders happy. What's wrong with that? Nothing , from a business standpoint. But I resent the surreptitiousness of it. I don't like his manipulative, calculating strategies to elicit fanboy support for his films.
It's insulting.

And @Ceejay, don't worry about it. You're not a fanboy so you have no power.

headlopper is mad that Cruise's MI:GP beat all comic book movies last year. He doesn't need second rate tv actors, he's just giving them a chance at international exposure. What a great guy! Nikolaj is awesome, great addition.
