GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS: THE HEDGE KNIGHT Announced By HBO

It's been revealed today (via SFFGazette.com) that HBO has given a series order to drama series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight

Announced during Warner Bros. Discovery's unveiling of the Max streaming service (formerly known as HBO Max) on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles, the Game of Thrones prequel will be written and executive produced by author George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, meanwhile, have been tapped to executive produce.

We've been hearing rumblings about this series for the past couple of years now, so it's a real thrill to see it take shape at the cable network. House of the Dragon has been a huge hit for HBO since launching last year and is only expected to run for a few seasons, so we're not exactly shocked another Westeros-based project is being fast-tracked.

Sadly, there was no mention of the Game of Thrones sequel starring Kit Harington as Jon Snow.

Here's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight's logline:

"A century before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros...a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg."

"Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."

Martin is clearly going to be heavily involved with this series, news fans of the iconic fantasy franchise are bound to welcome. However, we can't help but hope this project doesn't delay his next novel any further!

Various other prequels and spin-offs remain in development, but this will obviously be next for HBO. No actors are currently attached to the project (as far as we're aware), but more details are bound to be revealed in the weeks and months ahead.

Are you looking forward to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight?

The way Josh writes is so cringy: "it's a real thrill to see it take shape at the cable network" ... "Martin is clearly going to be heavily involved with this series, news fans of the iconic fantasy franchise are bound to welcome."

Dude, just report the facts. Your commentary is atrocious.

on another topic

the harry potter reboot tv series has been ordered

...........way too soon for a reboot.

also the book is 7 years and they are planning 10 years?

Guess they could split Goblet Of Fire into 2 seasons (it was considered for a 2 part adaption back when the movie was made) and order of the phoenix, those are the longest book

not sure which other one could be split, or they could do a post hallows season

@dracula - Is it too soon? To have seen the first Harry Potter in the theaters you would have to be in what your 20’s? That’s a lot of kids who just think of those as old movies.

Since it seems that HBO Max (or just Max) are going to reboot/remake Harry Potter with a new tv show, they could do the same with Game Of Thrones, but this time with Martin guiding the writers until the very end.

Or at least rewrite and refilm the last season and expand it to 2 or 3 extra seasons in a way that it makes some sense.

They could even still reuse some of the stuff already written and filmed for season 7 and 8, but just make it longer and better, so that huge threat that were the walkers are not dispatched in just one episode and Daenerys has more time to become a crazy b*tch, which I guess will be something that will be developed in a much better way in the books, if they are ever finished.

Yes! The books are great! Even though it’s a lot lighthearted story than his other work, the Dunk and Egg books are great!

Dumb title. I'll watch it though. I love the GoT world.

HoD s1 was peak television. So I'm at the very least open minded about this...

That title???

Why would choose that? Not only is it way too long, it's redundant. Officially one of the worst titles for a show. "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" or "The Hedge Knight", pick ONE.

Also, this show might be over extending itself with all these spinoffs.
