In the midst of its setting new premiere dates for its various programs, HBO has officially set a premiere date for Game Of Thrones - a highly successful fantasy epic TV series based on George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song Of Ice And Fire series of fantasy novels. Variety has revealed the official premiere date below, as well as how many episodes will be in this season. In addition, check out the other programs that HBO has set release dates for by clicking the link below.

HBO has set April 1 as the date for the 10-episode second-season premiere of ''Game of Thrones.''

The fantasy drama was a huge ratings winner for the pay cabler in its debut last year, as well as a massive profit center for the net since HBO produces the series as well. In addition to be a domestic hit, ''Thrones'' drew millions of viewers around the world.

So there you have it, Game Of Thrones is coming back on April Fool's Day. Coincidentally, this is the same date that Disney XD/Marvel has slated for the premieres of Ultimate Spider-Man and the second season for Avengers: EMH. Share your thoughts below in the usual place.

I Third! First post as well. Question for people that have read the novels...I bought all the novels and began reading them, but I'm worried that watching the show will not be as entertaining if I already know what's going to happen. It's really hard to wait each week to know what happens next (One of the reasons i come on here to find out spoliers, etc)

I've read that the writers are changing up the second season a little bit, as compared to the first novel, which was very close to the source material.

Can anyone give me advice: Should I read the second novel or just wait to watch it on TV?

Disney XD is stalling enough on Avengers, freaking HBO has done 2 seasons of GOT...kids wont remember wtf happened last season. This BS of making us wait all this time for next season has to change. I make an effort to watch all these programs in broadcast format, or on official online distributions. But if they continue to jerk us around, I will wait to borrow a DVD and not give them a nickle of my money in cash or advertising....i HATE the mouse..

@ElDarkside

I've read every book and the 1st season was IN NO WAY a disappointment! Sure i knew about Stark, but it was still shocking to see on screen. I do read a lot tho, so the books are kinda fuzzy and i just remember the major plot points, but this show is done SO WELL, it never felt "ruined" for me.....if anything, it only increased my anticipation!

Hope that helps.
