Winter is here.
HBO has just announced, via a new "Crypts of Winterfell" teaser, that Game of Thrones will return for its highly-anticipated eighth and final season on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00 p.m.
The final season will contain six episodes, but each installment will run about 90 minutes each, making them essentially feature-length. David Nutter, Miguel Sapochnik, David Benioff & Dan Weiss have already been announced as the directors.
While the teaser doesn't actually feature any footage from the show, HBO really pulled out all the stops producing it as it was directed by Primetime Emmy-winner David Nutter and features original music from Primetime Emmy-winner Ramin Djawadi.
In Season 7, Daenerys Targaryen has finally set sail for Westeros with her armies, dragons and new Hand of the Queen, Tyrion Lannister. Jon Snow has been named King in the North after defeating Ramsay Bolton in the Battle of the Bastards and returning Winterfell to House Stark. In King's Landing, Cersei Lannister has seized the Iron Throne by incinerating the High Sparrow, his followers and her rivals in the Sept of Baelor. But as old alliances fracture and new ones emerge, an army of dead men marches on the Wall, threatening to end the game of thrones forever.
An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
