In the least surprising news of the day, HBO has officially renewed Game Of Thrones for a seventh season. Plus, we have a ton of new photos from Sunday night's Season 6 premiere!
Well, it's official. Game Of Thrones is coming back for seventh season in 2017.
HBO broke the news earlier today, just days ahead of the highly anticipated Season 6 premiere where the world is expected to finally learn the true fate of Kit Harington's Jon Snow. There's no word on an episode count, but this renewal news does come about a week after Variety initially reported that showrunners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss were potentially considering shortened seasons for the final two seasons.
The network also simultaneously announced renewals for two of their hit comedies - Silicon Valley & Veep. Check out the official announcement below and keep scrolling for more photos from Season 6 Episode 1: "The Red Woman.
Episode #51: “The Red Woman”
Debut: SUNDAY, APRIL 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)
Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.
Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.
It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'
An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
