Jason Momoa, who will make his debut as Aquaman in 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, gave a more than memorable performance as the intense Khal Drogo on the first season of HBO's critically acclaimed epic fantasy series Game of Thrones. A clip of his original auditon for the role has surfaced. The brief clip shows that Momoa landed the role after performing the haka, a traditional dance of New Zealand's Maori people, during his audition. Although, the clip has been online since 2012, official confirmation of his Aquaman casting has caused the clip to go viral in recent days. Check it out for yourself below!

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.

Game of Thrones returns Spring 2015.

That looked like a tribal dance more than an audition.

Lol love the Haka. Always fun to watch in Union or League games involving the Kiwis.

Interesting, he said at Oz Comic Con he wouldn't show it to anyone as it's very sacred. I couldn't imagine him being pleased about this getting leaked.

And this was his actual audition by the way, he said so himself. Apparently the script contained a very weak dialogue initially for his character, so he wanted to try and convey the tribal persona of what his Drogo could be like using the Haka.

Nice! Great intensity. And it came through in his performance as Khal Drogo. Anytime I see this dance performed it give s me goosebumps.

Also his audition for Conan was beast as well. I reallt hope he gets to do cool things as Aquaman. And I hope they make him close to his New 52 version where he's just a beast. The clip from "Throne of Atlantis" just hinted at what he can take.

@KennyPowersEsq hey dc/wb said it's all about diversity right? and NPH would make a perfect aquaman!

@mbembet
I'm for diversity. I love the idea of a Polynesian-Atlantean Aquaman, as Momoa mentioned, Polynesian gods are tied to water. This makes the character's connection to water more special/significant because it's spiritual/religious. Rather than a blonde haired, blue eyed, American marine biologist.

As for NPH, I wouldn't mind if he appears in a DC movie at some point.
