THE NEW MUTANTS Star Maisie Williams Says GAME OF THRONES' Final Season "Definitely Fell Off At The End"

The final season of Game of Thrones was incredibly divisive, with many declaring it a dismal failure and disappointment. Those are harsh words, but there have even been campaigns to remake that last batch of episodes, presumably with a better resolution than Bran Stark ending up on the Iron Throne.

While most cast members have defended how the series ended, Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams has a slightly different take.

Revealing that she recently rewatched Game of Thrones from start to finish, Williams admitted (via SFFGazette.com), "It definitely fell off at the end." Adding that the HBO series "started really strong," she continued: "It kinda popped off. For the longest time...I could never see it from the outside. So I could never say that and actually understand it."

"For the first time, it feels good to be proud of it. It was 10 years of my life," Williams noted. "I was heartbroken when Ned died, yet I knew it was coming."

Since the show wrapped up, HBO has started developing a number of spinoffs and prequels, with House of the Dragon's first season concluding this past Sunday. A second batch of episodes has already been announced, while a Game of Thrones sequel series is in the early stages of development revolving around Kit Harington's Jon Snow.

Would Wiliams be open to appearing in that?

"It has to be the right time and the right people," she says. "It has to be right in the context of all the other spinoffs and the universe of 'Game of Thrones.' It has to be the right time for me."

The future does look bright for the franchise, and if any familiar faces from Game of Thrones are going to start appearing, it will be in the untitled Jon Snow project. Only time will tell on that front, but we're confident fans will have plenty to say about Williams' assessment of that controversial final season!

@AmazingFILMporg - or she had one interview and Josh split it up over seven articles. One of the two.

I want a spinoff about her further adventures after leaving on that ship before a Jon Snow spinoff.

The 3-eyed crow. Arya's Training. Jon Snow resurrection and purpose. The whole "winter is coming" (which turned out to be) BS.
All gone. In a single season.

The Night king?
Unmade - in a single episode, ffs.

This series was the hottest thing on TV worldwide, for years.
It was also destroyed overnight. Next day at work all those people eager to see the ending, some already disappointed, but hopeful it would deliver. None wanted to even think about it.

It's like GoT never existed.

@Fogs - it's kinda crazy how it went from being the biggest thing in pop culture to being another Dahmer. It was really forgotten overnight indeed.

With HotD and the GoT Telltale game I'm playing at the moment, I actually wanna revisit it again.

@bkmeijer1 - The difference is GoT was fantastic for so long. Dahmer was horrible, contrived, inaccurate BS.

@CorndogBurglar - true. The comparison is moreso that both were not talked about the week or so after the finale released though.

Everybody was watching it when it was just released, nobody was talking about it afterwards (like with almost any big Netflix show really).

Honestly, I don't even remember what her character was up to the last few seasons. Only remember Sansa, Dany and Jon's arcs.

Which in case of the latter is only because of the constant "I don't want it" (a saying that is true Targaryen trait it seems, seeing how Jace also says it in HotD).

Anyway, I agree it dropped off. The Night King deserved better.
