After going on a murderous rampage as the Scarlet Witch in last year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Primetime Emmy-nominee Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision; Avengers: Endgame) is back in a major way next month in the chilling new Max Original limited series Love & Death, which is based on a shocking true story.
Olsen plays Candy Montgomery, a devout Christian housewife from Texas who was accused of murdering her lover's wife, Betty Gore (Lily Rabe), with an axe in 1980. During the brutal attack, Gore was reportedly struck 41 times, and all signs pointed to Montgomery being the culprit.
In addition to Olsen in the lead role, the cast features Jesse Plemons (Allan Gore), Patrick Fugit (Pat Montgomery), Lily Rabe (Betty Gore), Keir Gilchrist (Ron Adams), Elizabeth Marvel (Jackie Ponder), Tom Pelphrey (Don Crowder), and Krysten Ritter (Sherry Cleckler).
Love & Death starts streaming on April 27, exclusively on HBO Max. The first three episodes will debut on that night, followed by weekly episode drops until the series finale on May 25.

Love & Death takes a close look at Candy Montgomery’s shift from a bright, devout Christian housewife to a merciless ax-murderer and the peculiar affair that started it all. Set in a close-knit, trusting Texas community full of carefree families and faithful churchgoers, it’s an idyllic picture–and the perfect cover for dangerous secrets and vicious jealousy left unchecked.
With executive producers David E. Kelley and Nicole Kidman and stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons, the limited series promises sky-high pedigree, style with substance, and the complex, psychological nuance necessary for such an unbelievable true crime story.
