Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts. But no one should ever underestimate Peggy. It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America. When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy - the only person he can trust - to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

Agent Carter will be with us in 2015, and stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa, Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley, Lyndsy Fonseca ("Kick-Ass," "Nikita") as Angie Martinelli and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark.

Yeah, Hayley Atwell has an attractive body. But the sexiest thing about her Peggy Carter character?

Her self confidence.

She wouldn't be the type of woman that would be jealous of other women.

^so what, i can name a lot of shows that would be much better if they stuck to one short season. as long as the story is good, it will be okay.

@GeneralDrift

Not a big deal if it doesn't. They're not calling it a seasonal show. They're calling it an 8-part special event. Also, it could easily get a second season. The Agent Carter One-Shot has been the best received One-Shot for Marvel, and Hayley Atwell is a pretty sought-after actress these days. Could pull good numbers.

Really looking forward to this.

This is a mini-series, you know, it's not a standard TV show.

It was rough. I saw it last night on CNN. Don Lemon interviewed a guy torching a police cruiser.

Rioter: What? They killed former President Bush's FEMA director? All the more reason for me to bust open the store glass for Best Buy and get that 70 inch plasma TV. Black Friday came five days early y'all!

@Merc - Not only did I survive, I had a pretty great night. I was on my way home and for the first time since this whole thing went down, I got the feeling they weren't going to indict that cop. I stopped at our grocery store and the National Guard was set up there! It's 2 blocks from my house and we live 20 miles from Ferguson. I meandered around and didn't recognize anyone's deployment patches so I got a pizza and went home.

I guess the people blabbing about "targets" and shit caught someone's attention, because as far as I could tell the Guard were out in places with nothing to do with Ferguson. We are next to Shaw I guess. So the GF took the dog and went to her dad's house. I rode my bike down to where they were protesting on Grand. I saw my old house. I used to live right there. I went home and had the whole bed to myself! No dog. No GF! Nothing...just me. It was nice. I slept like a baby.

I came home with the intention of going straight to bed, hoping I'd miss a phone call from family, asking if I was coming to Phoenix for Thanksgiving.

I ended up watching coverage of the riots and falling asleep on the couch. All in all, last night didn't suck.

Are you coming to Phoenix for Thanksgiving, McGee? Just want to know so I can request additional National Guard security for our metro area prior to your arrival. 😛

It depends. I have to ask myself... Do I want to see my family or play video games I bought years ago and are still in the wrapper?

I can do both, but last year my little cousins destroyed my XBox and some of my games.

@yossarian, nice to see you back, big guy.

And, just in case you missed it, Nately's whore STILL hates you! (I watched Catch 22 the other night, the night of Mike Nichols' death.)

Yeah, this rioting shit. Unbelievable. But the officer was justified, and this could all blow over with one spasm of anarchy, but Obama and Holder just want to fan the flames and make it even worse. So, in a few weeks, holder will announce the results of the "Justice Department" [sic] investigation, and mark my words, there will be a SECOND paroxysm of violence and "shopping".

And on, and on, it goes.

And these people, in all these cities, except for a very few, aren't there for "their gentle giant" [sic]. They are there for their own reasons.

And, frankly, the cops should be shooting a HELL of a lot more folks, starting with the rioters and arsonists.

That's my say.

BTW, was there an episode of Agents of SHIELD last night? I'm not seeing it on HULU yet. Last night's episode of Flash is there, but no AoS so far, so just curious.
