LOKI: Fans Are Convinced They've Spotted Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter In The Series Premiere

The series premiere of Marvel's Loki, "Glorious Purpose," is now streaming on Disney+, and just like they did with WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, fans have been scouring the episode for Easter eggs. There's already a few doing the rounds online that seem like a bit of a stretch (no, that wasn't Mephisto in the stained glass widow), but there is some compelling evidence to back up a theory put forward by Twitter user @vaneLLoki.

Just after the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) manages to escape Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and winds up out in the corridor, we see a TVA Agent bring a mysterious figure through a door in the bottom right corner of the screen. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but if you take a closer look in the video below, it's hard to argue that it really does appear to be Peggy Carter.

It's highly unlikely that the actress is actually Hayley Atwell, of course, and chances are it's just a fun little nod to the character to get fans talking. We probably won't find out until for sure until after the final episode, but it's safe to say we're all going to be keeping an eye out in case Miss Carter makes another appearance.

Tell us, did you spot this Easter egg when you watched the episode? Do you think it'll lead anywhere? Drop us a comment down below.

I mean, I get it but I still think it's a grasp.

@Menks123 - I actually have a thought on this. I believe it's not Peggy but the loki variant that we're gonna see the gang hunting throughout the series. It'll be revealed it's a female loki, hence the need to disguise her, and since time works differently here, the arrest happens now.

@Menks123 - Imagine if both Peggy and Cap worked for the TVA and Cap's one stipulation was for him to return to 2023 to give the Shield to Sam and the Time Keepers agreed and rewrote that aspect of the timeline because of how pure Steve was?

I don't know but anything is possible in the MCU these days. Be interesting as to why she would be there if it really was her though.

@BlackBeltJones - but it’s Mephisto?

@Se4M4NSt4ine - The devil mural in the beginning of the episode is going to spark even more Mephisto fan theories.

@MovieMonster - which is dumb because we know the hooded figure is another Loki variant from who knows where (or rather, when). that and the crew of the show also stating "no, Mephisto is not in this". if people get disappointed over that again this time is gonna be their own damn fault.

Se4M4NSt4ine - 6/9/2021, 6:29 PM
@MovieMonster - I know it won’t happen, especially since it veers from the Comics, but it’d be hilarious, yet cool if they did a retcon kinda thing with Evil Hooded Variant Loki and instead of introducing Mephisto as a mutant shaped by man kinds fear, it’s just a multiverse version of Loki, that’s sussed out the TVA’s power (possibly such power deforms him), jumping through time and wreaking havoc on Earth.

There he adopts a new name for his higher form, Mephisto. I mean it’d be kinda whack, but the MCU isn’t shy of creating their own spins of MCU villains - plus it’d be kinda cool to see Hiddleston stretch his acting chops as the devil lol...

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I love the idea of Hiddleston as Mephisto!! But, I doubt it will happen.. still cool tho!

Nah, I don't believe it.

So far, Loki has the best first episode of the MCU D+ shows so far. I'm excited to see where the story goes and how it impacts the wider universe.

@MovieMonster - This is so fresh I want to agree with you...but I recall the charm of WandaVision's first episode and backtrack my thoughts. Either way, Loki ep1 is brilliant. I mean...the implications already are...I can't even think of a single word to describe it. But. the contents of that desk drawer--assuming it's not a deceiving storytelling device--just scales this whole thing up quite a few notches...

could be any other brunette from that time period. I also don't think they would drop a major character like that on the background for a 2 second nod.

@Spidey91 - I also feel like this show has a certain 50’s/60’s aesthetic to it, hence the same haircuts and looks?

@FunkyFeige - that too. it could be just a random TVA employee.

Really enjoyed the first episode eventhough it was a little exposition heavy. The TVA felt like something out of a Terry Gilliam like 12 monkeys by way of Brazil.
