I really liked J. August Richards in the first episode.

this weeks episode I cannot defend. There was one interesting part and that was only because it was blatantly pointing towards a plotline in a future movie.
hopefully the next one steps it up.

@PantherX
It was that bad huh? I have been giving this show chances each week by tuning and hoping it really hits it's stride but tonight I didn't felt like watching it but instead talk on the phone with my girlfriend and talk about how good the blacklist is which is the only new series this fall that's been holding it down.

I hope they come back to the guy in tonight's episode and the whole other universe that he's stuck in later on. I want them to go deeper with that.

Tonight's episode was really good.

I thought it was alright. I wonder if Joss is even going over the scripts. With Angel and Buffy even though there were obviously episodes meant to progress a certain character they never came out and beat you over the head with it like this show does with episodes.

I don't know for sure but it has something to do with travelling to another universe and hell.

This was, I would say, probably the weakest episode for me. I've never been a big fan of the "supernatural" side of comics.

SPOILER ALERT

The idea in this episode of the "guardian angel" hidden behind the thin veil of portals, and alternate realms, doesn't grab me.

But it was still an interesting episode, and the development with May and Skye was great. There were a couple spots that felt heavy-handed, but that's just nitpicking.

Overall, still solid, just not in my favorite place topic wise.
McNyagano
McNyagano - 11/26/2013, 7:13 PM
Was that guy actually using portals the way Thor and Malekith did during their final battle? He also mentioned 'hell', which made me think that was a reference to Muspelheim
marcvader1
marcvader1 - 11/26/2013, 7:20 PM
I think hell is just the only word or place he knows to describe the place he was jumping from. It really could be any hellish place. Hopefully this guy or something else comes back in future episodes. Apparently Ward and MM have done the horizontal mambo on more than one occasion. Sex with no strings attached. Got no problem with it as its different than what you normally get.

Shouldn’t SHIELD make sure someone’s worthy before they make him/her an agent? Just seems a little weird, with all this “Will they? Won’t they” loyalty stuff. Good show, though.

Wow. Just...WOW. I just can't defend this episode. I LITERALLY would have rather watched an hour's worth of outtakes.

Totally unnecessary, terribly written episode and EASILY the worst episode of the series thus far.

I have to completely disagree with the people who say this show is "bad" or "terrible". I feel it's as good this many episodes in as "Smallville" or "Arrow" was. They've had to establish the characters( like any TV show does), take for example "The Office" which entire 1st season was a poor attempt at recreating the British original, it was not until the 2nd season did that brilliant show really take shape, plus for all the "hate" people seem to have for AOS, those people tend to ignore that this show is a success, with steady good reviews, which for any new TV show is a great starting point. Introducing the guy with the "centipede" powers from the pilot could be the last missing piece, and here's why. First we already know that he has killed someone, which isn't very "hero like", but that's why he would be a great character because he would be working towards redeeming himself. It's not like there aren't several Marvel heroes who haven't killed and then became "heroes" (Hawkeye, Black Widdow, Wolverine, etc.) And lastly why all the hate for a "black leather" suit? SHEILD is a government/military organization, black leather is very tactical, this guy shouldn't just have a "bright super suit", instead he should wear something that fits the look of SHEILD, and then later on if he ends up in a cool unique and colorful outfit then cool. So in closing to anyone who likes comic books this show is just as good as "Arrow" was at the start of their 1st season, and season 2 of "Arrow" is pretty great currently, so I'm happy to see where the rest of AOS goes this season, and await a 2nd season as well.

Some of you have the most unrealistically high expectations of the show ever. While it may not have been all that good, it wasn't completely bad either. This week's ep does feel somewhat like a filler ep, but it wasn't completely bad. Give it time to grow past one season to get its "legs" standing. One could look at this ep as subjective depending on one's viewpoint in regards to faith in human context of the supposed "hell" the guy phases back and forth from.

Despite its highs and lows, this show - in my opinion - is still interesting to me. Besides; if some of you are so damn set against the series as a whole, why not do your own show and post it up here for everybody else to judge. Seriously, some of you act like spoiled kids and do nothing but complain. Making a series with a weekly schedule is hard work, and from someone who has been part of the process in the film industry as part of the camera crew; people outside of it rarely (if at all) see the amount of grunt work put into it. Sometimes, it is 14 to almost 20 hour days for almost a total of 5-6 days straight to shoot a show with a running time of 40-50 minutes AFTER the script is in hand. And that is shooting the show only, that doesn't include the number of hours of editing the thing (effects and all).

God BLESS ya for seeing SOME positive things with this one dude. I always watch the episode twice so maybe I'll catch some things when I watch it again later, but other than the possibility of setting up a bigger "portal" storyline, I wasn't feelin' this one.

@McNyagano, that's your opinion, but I don't bother with the "haters", bottom line is this show ain't going nowhere considering Disney owns ABC and MARVEL, so I imagine they will easily bring it back for a stronger 2nd season, which with all the MARVEL movies still forthcoming this show could be on air as long as Smallville was, which just means good news for the fans like myself.

Tonight's episode was a disaster, if you missed it just read the recap cause it's not worth the time.

@Merrill- Smallville's pilot was great and Lex was way more interesting after 2 episodes than the entire cast of Shield combined after 9.

i thought this episode was alright, definitely the weakest since ep 3 imo,it was nice too get some insight into May and why she is called"The Cavalry" and what exactly happened to her, this show is good imo, thought it wasa meh show for the first three episodes, but then it got good imo, every show is gonna have alright, meh or bad episodes, arrow for me didnt get great until the back half of the season 1,so im interested to see if that it will happen, if people dont like the show, then ok fine, but you dont have to go" agents of shit" ok, this show is for the people who watch the movies only imo

I enjoy this show only for the simple fact that its sci-fi with hi production value and on prime time. I really didn't go in expecting it to feature heroes and villains from the comics since Whedon explicitly said it wouldn't. It certainly is nowhere near the upper crust of shows on tv but I didn't expect it to be.

Good episode. Glad they got into May's background. Hopefully we get to see more of it. I'm actually liking the relationship with ward also. It seemed so out of left field at first, but it kind of makes since. She is finally smiling, all while playing the role reversal from the norm(her being the senior officer, seducing the junior man). Also seeing the alpha male type in the submissive role is s nice change up.

I for one like the show a lot. Some people speak as if they were lied to about what this show would be about, and that's the people who are below the heroes. So far the show has delivered on that concept while also setting up potential future villains and heroes to use in future episodes or seasons. I am more interested on how the show will turn after the events of Cap 2, and Avengers 2. But I also believe that opinions count a lot more than nothing, somewhere in here a Marvel executive may be taking notes on our thoughts so I think constructive criticism is great.

The problem with "AOS" and "ARROW" are that they are Americanized TV, too many episodes that means lots of "filler" and not the most congruent arch or story. British TV is always better at telling a great story IMO, they don't have 24 episodes for a show like this, usually just 6-8, which means all of the episodes work on telling a great story, which 6-8 hours is plenty of time to execute a great plot when you keep every episode focused on that seasons(series) plot.
