'Mockingbird' Focused AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff No Longer Moving Ahead At ABC

Those of you hoping that Mockingbird and Lance Hunter will stick around on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are going to be very happy tonight, as that planned spinoff starring the two has apparently been scrapped by the network. Hit the jump for details on that and ABC's other Marvel plans...

The news that ABC were plotting an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff focusing on Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) was met with a mixed response from fans, especially as many fans were worried that it would mean both characters leaving that series.

Well, that's no longer an issue as Deadline reports that ABC and Marvel have decided to put the breaks on their plans for the sow which was being developed by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski. Details were scarce, but we did know that it would focus on the two characters mentioned above. Chances are it's been scrapped.

The site also mentions that the network are still working on a possible series with John Ridley, but he may be too busy with a second season of American Crime to prioritise that. Disappointed?

I like the two, but that spin-off would have needed to be really good for me to be interested in it.

And here I thought that they'll finally work on the Mockingbird show that has been in development at Marvel for years now.

Glad Agent Carter is getting a second season but I haven't even seen the first. Would love a Kate Bishop series.

I'd be happy with a straight up Deathlok show! Maybe woth him as the main focus for S.W.O.R.D. or some other S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot.

A while back I would have been excited about a Mockingbird TV show. A show about the Mockingbird we have is now something I dread.

Look at the haters coming in to pile on Bobbi's potential spinoff because AoS and Agent Carter were renewed.

Stay mad haters, these two shows are way better than that soap opera shit on CW.

Not sas because it would've been uneccessary romance and what not when it should focus on badass espionage. Good news. Marvel should focus more on Netflix content. Abc is fine with just AOS and AC. Netflix is the future

Next they need to end AOS. Keep all MCU series exclusively on Netflix. Maybe recast Mockingbird, and have her make appearances in the films, maybe lead up to a romance with Hawkeye, who knows.

How badass would AOS have been if it originated on Netflix???!! Ugh. It's solid now but..oooo the possibilities

@MrCBM
I'm pretty sure Marvel has plans for the Young Avengers in the near future.

Mockingbird, for me at least, has always been a character who works better within a team. I did like her Hawkeye stories, but I think she needs to be supporting, rather than starring. This is a good move, and hopefully a move towards Secret Avengers.

Disappointed that John Ridley may not be working on a show for Marvel, but in no way am I sorry about the death of the Mockingbird show.

Actually it's demise might be the reason we are getting an Agent Carter season 2, so It's for the best.

Well, lets see. To get a Mockingbird spinoff wouldn't they have to call her "Mockingbird"? Not once did I ever hear her called Mockingbird. She needs the eyewear seriously. I need something to distract from the...

Not disappointed with them getting a spinoff. I don't think anything on this show has really garnered a spinoff. Everything is fine where it is. Now where is that Speedball appearance in season 3 that was leaked prior to this last season.
