New Stills From AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

ABC has unveiled some new stills from the pilot episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Curiously, J. August Richard's character remains conspicuously absent from the promotional marketing info and images. Visit our Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. section to stay current on all the latest news.

Here's some fresh official stills and promotional character photos from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. courtesy of ABC and one behind the scenes shot featuring the man himself, Joss Whedon. Actor J. August Richards was featured prominently in the first teaser trailer for the new series but he's been noticeably absent from any official synopsis, cast listing or photos. The Whedons and Tancharoen are definitely trying to keep his role a secret but we believe we've cracked the code. CLICK HERE if you want to see some pretty decisive evidence concerning the identity of Richards' character.

Agent Phil Coulson - Clark Gregg

Agent Melinda May - Ming-Na Wen

Agent Grant Ward - Brett Dalton

Agent Leo Fitz - Iain De Caestecker

Agent Jemma Simmons - Elizabeth Henstridge

Skye - Chloe Bennet

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first television series, is from executive producers Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) also serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Definitely turning into a Whedon show. Pretty freakin' stoked for this.

25 year old interns. This show is looking very respectable. Sucks cause this could've been something special, but it seems they'd rather grab CW's audience.

He died, he's coming back, it's after Avengers.

He didn't die. THat's why they're trying to make the official hashtag #coulsonlives

Damn, I'd read from Clark Gregg and Joss Whedon that COulson did die, and will be resurrected. Thanks for the update.

@Nomis

They probably mean for the MCU. None of the other Marvel shows were connected to the Avengers etc.

I could've found this cast on the bus and saved them tons of money

Like I said, Whedon and Gregg have both said that he did actually die, and is being brought back for this show. Gregg went on at great length about how dying and coming back is a major thing for the character to experience, and he's definitely changed from it.

It's funny how many people are commenting as if "AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." is the first time in the history of fiction that a dead character has ever been brought back to life. And on a show based on a *comic book*, the genre which practically invented this trope, no less.

They do need some more older actors to fill out the cast. Some that will play more experienced S.H.I.E.L.D agents. What's Titus Welliver up to. Didn't he play an agent in one of the one shots? I'd love to see him join the cast.

He did, and that would be sweet. Hoping for at least one episode from him, and one with Smulders too. Also, hoping to see Jackson in the season finale.

I would expect spies or shield operatives to dress a little more professional or with come kind of company uniform while working at the office so to speak and could wear what ever they wanted while not at work but you know they'll be wearing the Chuck Taylors and skinny jeans type of clothing all the time on this show.

IF Coulson is actually dead.

We didn't saw funeral, dead body or EVEN MEDICS CONFIRMING HIS DEATH.

Probably he's just not dead. Only Nick Fury says he's dead...and LOL, in the words of Tony Stark, he's not a spy he's THE spy.

So the explanation is simpler than we can wonder

How many movies deaths do we not see a funeral for, or medics? We did, however, see a dead body. That scene wasn't about Coulson dying as much as it was Tony REACTING to Coulson's death. So we aren't going to spend five minutes of a movie turning it into an episode of ER. We had to get to Tony's reaction, kick his butt into gear for going to Stark Tower, and get to the final battle already.

Meanwhile...Gregg and Whedon confirmed he really did die. I was sooooo happy when that came out, so you guys can stop insisting that he survived...but it changed nothing.

@gastitdk What, you don't like big ass sneakers and Abercrombie and Gap? Looks like a Miller's Outpost ad. They could have at least went for a Macy's look. That one kid looks like he walked right out of Marshall's. Wait, he loks like a Ross man. Saving the world... and money.

The more elite you are in the military, the LESS professional you tend to dress though...

It really depends on what this team is about. Are they pencil pushers? Field agents? Are they meant to blend in? Dunno.

Yea, I have yet to become excited for this...not saying that anyone else shouldn't be. I personally don't see what the big deal is.

Now if they had been wearing something along the lines of what's above i'd be going bonkers.

I get that costumes are that important to some people, but having them in suits and regular clothes is probably way more appealing to non-comic reading viewers.

Sounds cool but still don't like that Coulson is back from the dead. Defeats his purpose on the Avengers.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 5/14/2013, 11:08 AM
@ruadh Non-comic reading viewers are responsible for making Avengers a billion dollars. They just saw HULK fight aliens along side the GOD of THUNDER. Why would they find Target outfits more appealing than Shield gear?

TheDARKestKNIGHT
TheDARKestKNIGHT - 5/14/2013, 11:08 AM
I just wish they were in suits more like Hill's and the shield agents from The Avengers movies. At least some time. I can understand being a spy and needing to blend sometimes but c'mon this is still S.H.I.E.L.D. right?
ruadh
ruadh - 5/14/2013, 11:12 AM
@NeoBaggins These characters aren't super heroes, that's a big part of the concept. They're used to seeing them in suits. Maybe they'll show up in some kinda SHIELDish gear for special missions or something. But to have them running around in them all the time...seems hokey. It's been well proven that what works in panels doesn't always translate to screen.

Jeez...you guys are really on about the ages, when the two main ones are certainly middle aged, a couple others can pass for 30's...the chick in purple is a civilian recruited into the team.

I dunno...I'm almost 40, and this looks like the best dramatic series in years to me.
sephiroth211
sephiroth211 - 5/14/2013, 11:20 AM
Does it seem hokey when Fury and Hill walk around in those suits all day? No? Then why would these supposed SHIELD agents look silly? This show is aimed at this hipster world...period.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 5/14/2013, 11:21 AM
@ruadh You seem like a nice dude. But I have to be honest, you sound like you're apologizing. Luckily, it's just a TV show. But let's keep it 100, if this were something else, the tone in here wouldn't be as welcoming. We know this to be a fact. Come'on. Pushing cliche-looking chicks at you and some runt with his jeans cuffed. I say users on thsi site go hard on waaaayyy less.

Bottom line, for me: I sense zero MARVEL in these photos. Mutant X had more superhero swag than this. And I hope their not trying to be the new HEROES which I found to be overrated and boring.

If it turns out dope, cool. I rather be wrong.
