Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Samuel Jackson was the best part of the show so far.

If they kill all the characters"agents", and get some serious SHIELD agents to replace them this show could get better.
Also they better give a good explanation for Coulson return like Life Model Decoy or Skrull. Ressurection or 'he didn't die' will be lame and underwhelming.

Wow they know how to reel in the fans with cameos. I rather see some baddies and heroes on the screen. I shall keep watching through the season and hope they deliver.

This was literally the best moment in the show. And I'm not saying that because of how awesome Samuel L. Jackson is, I'm saying that because of how mediocre the rest of the show is.

The show is improving. They're getting slowly used to their roles and are building some chemistry. It's to get better, but I believe it will.

This cameo was hilarious. I hope we have more of these. Maybe they could get RDJ to do one cameo later on in the season.

@OldGreg Disney is not making this show. Just because they own Marvel doesn't mean they are calling the shots. Disney is letting Marvel Studios do their thing, All Disney is doing is the promoting.

Just like Disney is not telling Marvel how to make comics. Or WB is not telling DC what comics to publish.

After ep 2 i gave up on this show, its a show for kids, well form the looks of ep3 my bet is that Nick Fury's cameo will be the only good part of that episode and i just saw it,so no need to wait for ep3

After watching it, I'm glad they decided to put Fury on, b ut he needs to be there full time. What is SHIELD without Fury? Yes, I realize it is called agents of SHIELD, but Nick needs more screen time!
Having said that, I found the episode boring until Fury showed up. Hope this show gets better!

I guess when I was 20 and when Pulp Fiction first was out, I thought Sam Jackson was pretty cool. As the years passed though, I've realized he plays himself over and over. He isn't playing Nick Fury. He is playing Sam Jackson dressed up as Nick Fury. I'm not saying he is a bad actor or anything, but it's the same ol schtick over and over. Just not seeing why people are drooling over this.

I think Coulson might actually be a cyborg rather than an LMD - think about it, why would they create an LMD to replace an agent who was killed in action? And then, why would they be so wary of telling him that he's not the real Coulson?

If he's a cyborg, it makes more sense - they managed to save his life, but he's not really human any more, hence why they're so unwilling to tell him the truth - they're afraid of how he'll react to knowing what they've done to him in order to keep him alive.

I keep thinking about how Coulson "came back". He said after he "recovered" he had a vacation in Tahiti. He says it's magical all the time. Maybe Thor and some Asgardians resurrected him. Or some tie-in to Dr. Strange.

The show literally has the same tone as Buffy and Firefly. It shouldn't come as a surprise that a show directed by Whedon has the same dialogue as the rest of Whedon's works. The only people voicing their hate are irrate DC fans spiteful about Marvel's successful venture into television.

On a sidenote, how much do you think they paid SLJ for this cameo?
AC1
AC1 - 10/2/2013, 8:37 AM
@Philvis have you seen Django Unchained? If you have, then you have to admit that Stephen is unlike any other character SLJ has played before. And I wouldn't say he's playing himself over and over, I'd just say his characters tend to be similar enough that people have noticed, but there are differences - Nick Fury, Mace Windu, Jules, and (especially) Stephen are actually pretty different characters, it's just that SLJ is so well recognized now that people tend to focus more on him as person rather than the characters he's playing.

I like the show so far keep it up. Some people are impossible to please. Realizing that this show is on regular tv and has limitations I’m glad they are doing such a great job keeping me entertained with new characters and great MCU tie ins. This show will not be on the level of a Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones because those shows are produced by the movie channels that they appear on and have less limitations. Appreciate the fact that we got an MCU show or GTFO.

The show has some promise but it needs a raw 24 like approach and I enjoyed the Nick Fury cameo! Everyone looks to damn pretty!
Philvis
Philvis - 10/2/2013, 8:46 AM
@AC1 - when I say Sam Jackson is playing Sam Jackson, I'm generalizing when it comes to certain role types...specifically action. He's like Jason Statham...if it's an action role, you know exactly how it is going to be played. Again, not saying he is a bad actor by any means, but his action roles are all the same.

@KlarksCent - The Sam Jackson cameo was definitely well placed, as the initial previews of the show definitely gave the wrong impression to a lot of viewers that they may be seeing some big guns in it. I said yesterday that they are 'teasing' the audience, so they will need to continue to throw a bone to the audience if you want to keep the non-comic book fans who were expecting 'more' from AoS.

The cameo was pointless, and pretty lame I thought. I was hoping this show would have been more, but not to worry, there are other things on."

So you won't be watching anymore? That means we won't see you in the comment section of SHIELD articles anymore, right?

The series improved over the first week. I often revisit shows I like and when I see the first episodes I'm "usually" surprised at how much worse they were at the start. This show has to find it's way and hopefully when it settles in after a season we will start to see some really cool stuff because there is a ton of potential and I think the people in charge really get it.
