It seems we have a new insight on the crew working to bring Cloak and Dagger to the small screen on Freeform. Following an initial report by Season Zero, Gina Prince-Bythewood later confirmed herself that she would helm the pilot of the upcoming series. Her body of work, which includes The Secret Life of Bees, Love and Basketball, and Beyond The Lights all heavily feature romance, lining up with previous reports and press releases that there would be a significant romantic element to the series.

She also serves as co-creator of Shots Fired, a FOX TV series set to premiere this coming March.

Any thoughts or comments on the creative direction this show appears to be taking? What do you think of this choice of director for the Cloak and Dagger piilot? Comment below to discuss!

"The live-action interracial romance follows the duo, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love — Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging."

The project is lead by showrunner Joe Pokaski and filming is expected to begin on February 15th.

I was a fan of Cloak & Dagger from the beginning. Pretty cool to see them get the live action treatment. I lost track of them before the romance angle started, but it makes sense. I really hope they don't stray too far from the Maggia/experimental drug origin. It would be a real shame if Tyron didn't have his stutter.

I keep forgetting this is happening. I don't think I've ever been less excited for an MCU property.

With it being on the Freeform (basically ABC's CW) this is likely going to be a very tweny show that won't appeal to me.

Good work @winterwinner, this should've made the main page.

Freeform is a terrible [frick]ing channel but I'm definitely going to give this show a try.
