Daredevil: Born Again fans were recently dealt a harsh blow when the news broke that Season 3 will be the show's last. Netflix's Daredevil ended after three seasons, and uncertainty remains about what the future now holds for the Man Without Fear.
The hope is that Marvel Studios will finally take note of audience demand and pair Daredevil with Spider-Man in the web-slinger's next movie. Kevin Feige appears to be a fan of Matt Murdock, at least, having featured Charlie Cox in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo before his solo series launched.
Given the glowing reviews for Seasons 1 and 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, there have been many questions about why the plug is being pulled. Ultimately, it may be as simple as a Season 4 not fitting into Marvel Studios' plans for a fresh start after 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
However, it seems safe to say that the reason isn't necessarily low viewership.
According to data shared by Luminate, Daredevil: Born Again was the most-streamed Disney+ original series in the first half of 2026. So, why the cancellation? The show's budget may have been an issue, and if Disney+ viewership for original TV shows is generally on the decline, the MCU TV series may still have struggled to justify the costs of continuing beyond Season 3.
We recently spoke to Deborah Ann Woll about Daredevil: Born Again's conclusion and asked whether she was surprised to see the series end with its next batch of episodes.
"It wasn’t super surprising to me, no," she said, echoing recent comments from Charlie Cox. "I don’t know about hopes moving forward. I mean, obviously, in my mind, she’s a full person with a full life, and her life will continue. She’s going to continue to fight injustice, and whether they choose to include any of that is up to people far above my pay grade."
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3's cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.
Krysten Ritter, meanwhile, will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.
The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March, so stay tuned for updates as we have them.
