At the Fox portion of the winter TCA, the network gave updates on several projects, including the X-Men spinoff TV series, Hellfire Club. When asked how soon the show could premiere, Fox CEO Dana Walden said it's possible but unlikely the show debuts this year.

"Unlikely it would be the fall.  Potentially midseason but no immediate plans. We’re still working on Hellfire Club. Obviously those executive producers are very busy with the film franchise and the FX show, so not sure."

Hellfire Club will be a period drama, set in the 1960s.  The series will be jointly produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Television.  Serving as executive producers are Evan Katz, Manny Coto,
Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.  Patrick McKay and JD Payne are writing the script from a story first concieved by Katz and Coto.

The Hellfire Club superhero drama is one of two Marvel television projects at Fox.  The network is also developing a TV series around Prof. X's estranged son, David Haller.

...I still don't understand how this would work.

Hopefully the show will make the Hellfire Club at least half as cool as they are in the comics. First Class was an okay movie but that Hellfire Club was nothing approaching how amazingly interesting they are as a group in the comics.

Jeph Loeb is producing this? A joint production with Marvel Television. This makes things interesting.

SWEET! Now we'll get inaccurate versions of a bunch of characters that nobody cares about. Dazzler's probably going to be the coolest character on there.

The only interesting aspect of these shows existing is the mystery of what if anything Marvel got from fox for letting them make these.

Marvel DEFINITELY got something in return. This is a business first and foremost. Rarely, are you going to do anything just out of the kindness of your heart. It's all about favors and deals. Marvel allows Fox to run these shows, Fox for damn sure gave something up for it.

Or Fox owes Marvel one; owe them a BIG favor in the future.

Marvel Television and Marvel Studios are two separate entities.

There was no "deal"

Do you think they'd be willing to sell so many character rights for two tv shows?

@SAMURAI36 What exactly do you think we do around here?

Why make a show without Sebastian Shaw? He is already dead, or they are going to revive him, or create more plot holes in their shared universe?

Kinda skeptical about this one.

I could see this being a good show if they introduce the proper characters

@Crabnado but Hiram is not the guy from the XVII century?
You are right about the similaries between Sinister and movie Shaw, but like i said, im just skeptical, i really hope that they pull off a good project, i just want it to make sense in their shared universe cause i really liked FC and DoFP.

So basically, we are jerking each other off in this article. I prefer McGee to do mine, but I will take what I can get

I'd honestly prefer New Mutants be a tv show rather than a movie.

@GliderMan I dont wanna look like a hater, but i got the same feeling. It seems that they dont have a plan for the long run, or at least its the impression that i got from them.

Still looking forward for Deadpool and AoA tho.

BREAKING NEWS: HELLFIRE CLUB LOSES SHOWRUNNERS, WON'T GO TO PILOT

Never had much faith in this show

@ComicsBornAndBred

Wellllll, they also did say...

Sources say Fox remains committed to Hellfire and wants to get it completely right as the X-Men franchise remains a valuable asset for the company.

So, it might not be happening for now but it's not completely off the table. Good to hear they aren't rushing to grab new writers. Another 24 series is tiring, but luckily it won't be the same protagonist.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 1/15/2016, 6:44 PM
My only thing is, they killed off Emma, Azazel and Shaw so who else would be left to make the show even more interesting??
GhostDog
GhostDog - 1/15/2016, 6:46 PM
@TheRationalNerd true but it's really disheartening to have your showrunner dump you for a reboot; one that's not needed too. 24 reboot is tiring I agree man.

Personally, I think Hellfire needs to be on a better network than Fox. Maybe put it on FX with Legion.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 1/15/2016, 6:48 PM
@TheRationalNerd I agree. Azazel and Emma Frost are two charcaters with some deep mythology. They both needed to be expanded upon after First Class. With thentimelime.being, idk, foxed after DOFP, maybe they could comeback somehow
