Loki season 2 will feature the God of Mischief and Mobius investigating Kang the Conqueror Variant Victor Timely, likely in an effort to figure out the threat this time-travelling villain poses to the MCU.
It was in the first season's finale that Loki and Sylvie reached the Citadel at the End of Time to find a Kang waiting for them; revealed as "He Who Remains," the villain had created the Sacred Timeline, wiping out his Variants and writing history as he saw fit. However, his demise meant the Multiverse was reborn, and now, war is coming.
According to The Cosmic Circus, it won't just be Victor Timely and his Astounding Emporium Marvels we see in Loki season 2.
He Who Remains will return, with the site explaining that "these scenes...are not repurposed from the first season finale, but rather new scenes taking place at the Citadel at the End of Time and the Void." Apparently, we're getting a "full circle" moment for the story being told in Loki, though your guess is as good as ours when it comes to what that means.
Is it possible that, given Jonathan Majors' continued legal troubles, Marvel Studios will change course and take Kang off the board? It's certainly possible, though there is still a movie called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on the horizon!
If we had to hazard a guess, these scenes will just better explain the TVA's creation and how He Who Remains became the most dominant Kang by committing Multiversal genocide.
This rumour has certainly left us with plenty to think about in the weeks ahead, anyway, and we're hoping Marvel Studios will use Loki's second season to better explain where exactly this Saga is taking us.
Loki season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.
The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.
Loki season 2 begins streaming on October 6, exclusively on Disney+.
