As the second season of Loki continues to round out its cast, the latest addition is Scottish Game of Thrones and The Green Knight actress Kate Dickie.
As is often the case, details on Dickie’s character are being kept under wraps, but Deadline has heard that she will play a villain.
UPDATE: The Illuminerdi is reporting that Dickie will actually play the main villain, who is believed to be an older Variant of Sylvie!
Dickie joins returning cast members Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Eugene Cordero, and Tara Strong. Rafael Casal and Ke Huy Quan are also on board in undisclosed roles. It's assumed - but not confirmed - that Jonathan Majors will reprise the role of Kang(s).
For many, Loki is still the best MCU-set Disney+ series (it's still the most-watched) we've seen on the streaming service, so a lot of fans were disappointed when it was announced that director Kate Herron would not be returning to helm the second season. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will co-direct a majority of the episodes in her stead, with Eric Martin, who penned "The Nexus Event" and "For All Time. Always" episodes, taking over from Michael Waldron as Head Writer.
The season finale of Loki concluded with Sylvie (Di Martino) following through on her plan to kill "He Who Remains" (Majors), splintering the Sacred Timeline and causing the rebirth of The Multiverse in the process. We then saw the God of Mischief (Hiddleston) arrive at what he believed to be the familiar surroundings of The TVA, only to discover that he'd actually entered a reality ruled over by another Kang Variant.
Dikie will probably be best known for her supporting role as the deranged Lysa Arryn in Game of Thrones, but she has also appeared in the likes of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Prometheus, Inside Man, and many more. She played the lead in little-seen 2006 thriller Red Road.
