Marvel's CLOAK & DAGGER And THE RUNAWAYS Rumored To Begin Shooting Next Month; Working Titles Revealed

It looks like we might have a pretty good idea of when Freeform TV's Cloak and Dagger and Hulu's The Runaways are due to begin shooting. Plus, working titles for both shows have seemingly been revealed.

Thanks to SeasonZero (via MCU Exchange) we might have some new details on two of Marvel's upcoming TV projects: Freeform's Cloak and Dagger, and Hulu's The Runaways. Word is the latter is set to commence production in LA next month, while Cloak and Dagger will also shoot in February, but in New Orleans. While this is not official information, the source has been reliable for this sort of thing in the past.

In addition, Production Weekly has learned that the working title for The Runways is Rugrats, while Cloak and Dagger will shoot as Shadows. They've also revealed that Marvel's solo Black Panther movie will be referred to as Motherland while filming.

If both shows are indeed scheduled to get going next month, it is slightly odd that we haven't had any casting details for either yet - though this could mean that info on the horizon, so keep an eye on CBM for updates.

I never understood the use of a workingtitle. Especially when they reveal it. Someone who cares to explain it to me?

@malsemarcel - I think it's done so they don't attract as much attention while filming, and to prevent suppliers from price-gouging.

@malsemarcel - It's so you don't attract unnecessary people. We only know the working titles because we come to this website. If lets say I was a casual fan, and I saw that Avengers was shooting in my neighborhood, i'd go, an tell all my friends. But if it said Group hug, i' be like wtf and just move on. Obviously some people will google it, and it's not a full-proof method, but it does it's job

@malsemarcel - its likely one of those things that has just never changed that worked well prior to the internet making this information easy to obtain

according to wikipidea its sometimes its because they havent decided on a final title. other times its to keep the production secret, especially when shooting in open location

"A title ruse is a practice by which a high-profile film or television series is given a fake working title to keep its production a secret, and to prevent price gouging by suppliers,[2] casual theft and undesirable attention."

If Marvel is finally going to definitively [frick] something up, I'd prefer it be Cloak and Dagger and the Runaways. No offense to anyone who really like them as characters, but this is finally a corner of the MCU that I'm not particularly invested in.

I read Runaways last year, and it was pretty fun! I'm curious how it's gonna be with this adaptation!

I'm not excited for Cloak and Dagger, but Runaways has the potential to be great.
