As Marvel Television already confirmed, episode 4 of VisionQuest officially unveils the MCU's take on Jocasta.
Major spoilers ahead.
In the comics, Ultron (James Spader) created Jocasta, and the ALA was originally designed to house the consciousness of the Wasp. The MCU's version of the "Bride of Ultron" is significantly different, since she is revealed as a brand-new character created for this series.
Vision, Ultron, and the others discover that the mysterious Butcherbird killer's victims were the scientists who created the first stable synthetic consciousness that was used as the prototype for Tony Stark’s AI, and that the "trophies" the killer took - a litre of blood, fingerprints, and an eye - were actually biomarkers needed to unlock... something.
The last scientist in the group, Dr. Katerina Wells (guest star Mary McDonnell), is hosting a gala, and Vision anticipates that the Butcherbird will crash the party. With Lisa Molinari's help, Vision and Tommy infiltrate the event, and sure enough, the killer Synth arrives, revealing herself as a silver automaton with a design similar to Ultron, Jocasta.
This interpretation of the character reveals that she is not simply "based upon," but actually used to be Doctor Jo Carrington (T'Nia Miller), one of the early Stark AI scientists who was believed to have died of natural causes. Jocasta needs Wells' facial recognition scan as the final key.
Tommy uses his super-speed to rescue Wells, but Vision realizes he can't defeat Jocasta, and Ultron asks to be allowed to take the wheel. After doing so, he immediately tricks Jocasta into vaporizing the doctor, seemingly rendering the final key useless. As Jocasta escapes, Ultron reveals that he now has control of Vision and the other AIs.
So, is Jocasta the "client" who hired Paladin? It doesn't seem so, since she doesn't actually appear to be interested in capturing Vision and simply wants the Synthezoid to stay out of her way. There may be some connection between the two, but we'll just have to wait and see.
"When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate.
As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
VisionQuest also stars Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his Iron Man role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
