The season finale of VisionQuest arrives on Disney+ next Tuesday, and Marvel Studios has released a 30-second TV spot promising MCU fans "one final surprise."
That's hinted at when Tommy Maximoff walks into a room full of candles; the question now is simple: who will he find waiting for him? His twin brother, Billy Maximoff, seems the most likely possibility, though there's always an outside chance that it's his mother, the Scarlet Witch.
At the end of VisionQuest's penultimate episode, The Client was finally revealed. We still don't know who Ultron's human avatar is, but there are some very compelling theories already doing the rounds.
Over the past four weeks, VisionQuest has proven itself a worthy conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy (Agatha All Along was the middle chapter), and Lauren Morais has emerged as a breakout star. When we spoke to the Lisa Molinari actress, she told us this about her potential MCU future:
"I mean, as you’ve seen in the comics, her complicated relationship with Tommy and how they wrestle with the two groups they’re in, like Dark Reign and how she questions him, he questions her. I think that’ll be such an exciting dynamic to explore. And again, what I was saying earlier about her villain and whether she actually believes in it and superheroes."
"I mean, how we started this journey of Lisa in VisionQuest being a pickpocket on the streets... I think it’s a very interesting conversation to have, and I really like the dynamic between Tommy and Lisa in the comics because it’s so complicated and it goes on such a journey. I think it’ll be so fun to see that."
Back to the finale's surprise, and regardless of whether it's Billy or Wanda, that's bound to have consequences for Avengers: Doomsday. With the Young Avengers expected to assemble in the latter, we'd bet on Speed finally meeting Wiccan.
Check out this new look at VisionQuest in the players below.
In VisionQuest, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponise him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron.
His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision's son, reincarnated. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron's influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.
VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, with Emily Hampshire and James D'Arcy.
In our full season review, we concluded, "Paul Bettany and James Spader are masterful in VisionQuest, a staggering achievement by Marvel Studios and Terry Matalas that understands its characters, does right by them, and delivers one of the best MCU stories ever told."
Seven episodes of VisionQuest are now streaming on Disney+.
