Zach McGowan, who's starred in Marvel's Agents of Shield and Black Sails, is joining the cast of the upcoming Bad Boys spin-off airing on NBC as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. He will join Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
The Bad Boys spin-off follows free-spirited former DEA agent Syd Burnett, who gets a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She partners with Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), who is a little envious of Syd's freedom. Considering their backgrounds in the action character-driven procedural, Union and Alba are guaranteed to deliver.
McGowan will be playing Ray Sherman, the show's primary villain. Sherman is a slick-suited nightclub owner who is not afraid of a little hustle. He has a violent encounter with Union’s Syd Burnett, who is looking for a criminal he is apparently in business with.
The yet untitled drama was written by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis (The Blacklist), who will serve as executive producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Kristie Anne Reed, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone, Doug Belgrad and Union. Anton Cropper will direct the pilot and receive an EP credit. The project hails from Sony Pictures Television, Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Primary Wave and 2.0 Entertainment. Sony's Columbia produced the original Bad Boys films alongside Bruckheimer. Jessica Alba will also be credited as an executive producer.
Bad Boys 2 is currently shooting. No premiere date has been confirmed.
