After barely surviving the heat of the Indian subcontinent (and a few bullet wounds), it looks like Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) will be trading his summer gear for a big winter coat when he returns in Extraction 2 next year, as the Netflix sequel is set to take the black ops mercenary to the icy cold terrain of the Czech Republic.
With filming finally underway, the Thor: Love and Thunder star shared a first look at the upcoming Sam Hargrave-directed action movie, revealing the icy new setting. Joe Russo once again penned the script.
Outside of Hemsworth, no other cast member has been confirmed just yet, but Golshifteh Farahani has been rumored to reprise her role as Nik Khan from the first installment.
The original Extraction proved to be a massive success for the streaming service, quickly becoming the most-watched Netflix Original movie of all time last year, and bringing in over 99 million households worldwide in the first four weeks after its April 2020 debut.
No word on a release date, but it seems like a late 2022 debut could be in the cards, although early 2023 seems more likely.
In 2020, the world met a new hero: Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a fearless black market mercenary who embarks on the deadliest mission of his career. But what seems lost ...can still be extracted.
Directed by Sam Hargrave, this action-packed, edge-of-your-seat franchise is produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the visionary directors of Avengers: Endgame.
