COWBOY BEBOP Is Heading To Netflix As A Live-Action TV Series With Shinichiro Watanabe On Board As Consultant
Big news for Cowboy Bebop today as it's been revealed that a live-action adaptation is finally in the works and on its way to Netflix. There's some great talent involved so find out more after the jump.
We've been waiting what feels like forever for a live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop and it's finally happening! As you can see, Netflix has announced that a 10 episode series is in the works and Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed the original anime, will serve as a consultant on the series.
An official synopsis for this take on the property has also been revealed by the streaming giant:
Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.
Christopher Yost (Thor) is on board as executive producer and the writer of the first episode, while he'll be joined by fellow showrunners Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio; Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios; Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc.
Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg will also executive produce so, as we said at the top of this post, there's a lot of great talent involved in the long overdue series.
