As someone who’s never seen Dark Crystal or read any of the books that are set in that world... I really need someone to explain to me what I just saw.

@MUTO123 - You should definitely watch Dark Crystal, you're missing out. The vulture-looking things are Skeksis, the bad guys. The elf-looking people are Gelflings, the good guys, which have been mostly wiped out by the time of the Dark Crystal because of a prophecy that a Gelfling would fix the Crystal and cause the downfall of the Skeksis. This prequel series is all about the prophecy and the Skeksis trying to destroy the Gelflings.

@MUTO123 - Groundbreaking 1982 Jim Henson fantasy flick done completely with puppetry. It certainly would be considered "slow paced" by today's standards, but is a solid fantasy film with some beautiful scenes and a great message imo. Check it out!

They really don't do puppets like this anymore so this is AMAZING.

@Kevwebsz - There's definetly some cgi mixed in there, but otherwise, I was impressed with the puppets and it looks much more promising than I thought it would be. I'm pretty excited to see this!

As someone who loved (and feared 😉)The Dark Crystal as a kid in the 80's, I thought they'd totally screw this up, but I have to admit, this looks solid! And once I saw Fitzgig, I was sold!

A couple of quick questions if anyone has the info:
This is supposed to be a PREQUEL to TDC, correct?
Any idea on how many episodes have been produced so far, and how many are planned?

@Feralwookiee - This is a prequel, yes. It shows why the Skeksis wiped out the Gelflings. Initially there will be 10 one-hour episodes, all of which will be available on Netflix August 30th.

I’ve been looking forward to another Dark Crystal movie since the first one when I was a kid. Used to be scared as hell when the Skeksis came on. God I hope they frighten a new generation of kids...that would be great.
