Netflix has released the first full-length trailer for Lost in Space, which is set to premiere on the streaming service in April. The footage introduces us to the Robinson family (John, Maureen, Judy, Penny and Will) as they crash-land on a mysterious, seemingly deserted planet.

However, our heroes soon find out that there are other life-forms present - including "The Robot", who now seems to be of extraterrestrial origin, and a the sinister Dr. Smith.

The cast is led by Toby Stephens (Black Sails), Molly Parker (House of Cards), and Parker Posey (Superman Returns), who who will play a gender-swapped incarnation of Smith.

Check out the trailer and a poster below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders: the charismatic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) and the roguish Don West (Ignacio Serricchio)

I'm watching this for one reason, Toby Stephens. He gave one of the best performances I've ever seen in black sails, that guy is one of the most underrated actors working today and I can't recommend Black Sails enough if you having seen it yet.

@CurlyBill - He was so great in that show. He was also pretty good in Die Another Day as Gustav Graves. That's the first thing I saw him in.

For any Fantastic Four fans, I would highly recommend checking this out. To compare demographics, I’m 32 and remember the original series on on SyFy (back when it was SciFi channel) and was hooked. It’s one of those serials where you’re rooting for the protagonist (the entire family) to make it back home one day. If anyone read the Swiss family Robinson stories, this is a science fiction version of that and so the story potential is grand but also invites all types of viewers to enjoy for a variety of reasons such as action, drama, mystery, horror. The 2000’s movie was great too, because it was the first time you could really imagine what a Fantastic Four movie could be about.

Can’t wait for this.

Pretty impressive aside from the robot. Use to watch the old show along with Batman when I was a kid.
